Sources tell @CBSSports Memphis & Big East in final negotiations to make Tigers Big East all-sports members in 2013

GGGG

OK, so if I have this right, that would mean 10 football members for 2013 & 14.  (I think Syracuse and Pitt leave early)  With Navy joining in 2015, that would be 11 football members.  That would mean IMO that one more additional football member will join to have 12 teams and a championship game.

And this would mean 16 all sports members.

Football only: Boise, Navy, SDSU, and ???

All sports: Louisville, Cincy, Rutgers, Uconn, USF, UCF, Houston, SMU, and Memphis

No football:  Nova, SJU, Providence, MU, DP, ND, Georgetown and SHU

Of course all of this assumes no additional defections.

Aughnanure

Actually it would be 17 All-Sports members (non football of course) + 3 (4 soon?) football-onlies.

Lousiville is likely the next to bolt, replaced by Air Force for football only.

Oh yeah...I listed them but counted them wrong.

Yep. But who does the Big XII add to make it 12? Louisville would be #11.

Doubt it. They will not give up their TV revenue.

Just like Texas and ND.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I see Air Force coming in regardless.  Hopefully -for the football playing schools- with Louisville still around, so they get to 12 football schools which would allow for a championship game and probably help keep the BCS status.

I had to laugh when I read this line from the article.

"On Friday, the ACC announced that Pitt would compete in the Coastal Division"

I predict that they'll love that salt air in Pittsburgh.

Buzz Williams' Spillproof Chiclets Cup

The ACC's division names are the most redundant since the old Big East East Division.

RT @Matt_HayesSN: Here's what Memphis to Big East tells me: Louisville to B12 is happening. Big East moves to Memphis to secure that secondary area.

Hope this is wrong.  If we were forced to trade Louisville for Memphis that would just suck.  Definitely backwards from a basketball perspective and also backwards from football.

I want both!

17 all sports teams does seem too much.  Unfortunately, I believe this to be a very shrewd observation by Mr. Hayes.

Interesting reads around other team's boards. Remember that report about 2 basketball schools looking to leave and form  a BBall-only conference. Seems Xavier and Dayton fans believe its us and DePaul.

Sounds official to me.

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/7551260/memphis-tigers-joining-big-east-2013-14-season

"The Big East will announce Wednesday that Memphis is joining the conference in all sports in 2013.

Outgoing Memphis athletic director R.C. Johnson confirmed to ESPN.com that the official call with the Big East to accept the invitation from commissioner John Marinatto will take place at noon ET.

A news conference will follow in Memphis."

The Process

Well... as much as I don't like the one-and-done shop that they have down in Memphis... welcome...?

Isn't the NCAA conference carousel oh so much fun?
Relax. Respect the Process.

JamilJaeJamailJrJuan

I think it is a great addition. I think Louisville will hang around if Pitino had his say..he was pretty vocal about adding Memphis. But he probably has no say in the ultimate decision. I also don't give two shits about CFB, but I know Memphis is pretty horseshit. But for hoops, it is a huge get. Welcome, Memphis.
