Why are posters worried whether or not James will be back in a Warrior uniform next season? Its a no-brainer. Let's see, first of all there are dozens of undergraduate college players who have entered the draft. Secondly, James is a 5'10" point guard who doesn't shoot from the field or free throw line very well. Who's he going to check at his height, Earl Boykins?
Travis Diener is twice the player James is and he can't get in uniform half the time. Yeah, yeah I know Travis is getting a mil over two years, but he can at least shoot it. So unless NBA general managers are completely brain dead, and that's debatable I know, look for DJ to be wearing #1 again for MU in their Wade Wear next season. If he gets bad advice and stays in the draft, I 'm afraid he falls off the face of the earth and pulls a Darius Washington.

I agree that the kid needs some work on his game before he will be an NBA player...

I'm just kind of worried because you never know what can happen over the next month.

There have been players worse than DJ (telfair comes to mind) that have been drafted rather high... so no guarantees that DJ will be back at MU.

I hope he is... I think 07-08 could be a lot of fun.

little difference between DJ and Diener.  Stretch for Diener to be picked in 2nd round and it is a stretch for DJ to be a top 20 pick
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

I don't think it's a no-brainer.  If he can't make it this year, he might have even more trouble next year with a stronger class.  I know he's saying if it's not a guaranteed 1st round selection he will come back.  I'm not convinced of that.  I think if he's guaranteed to be drafted, he might risk it and go for it.  Otherwise next year doesn't look any better in terms of his chances (unless he has an incredible year which is certainly possible).

Right on Chicos...what DJ has right now is potential...you can't quanitfy that, next he loses potential and starts to have pros and cons (See Thomas, Chris - Notre Dame)...I would be really surprised if he's back.  But IMHO that's ok...Acker, SC & Cube can fill in and Wes, Jerry, Ooze and The Lazer should all step their games up.

Wow, where have you been. why not call DJ and tell him your wisdom? Just how many point guards are in the draft this year? Clearly you know more than those advising him.

Mayor McCheese

I have a hard time seeing him drafted until late 2nd round... and I think this draft is pretty loaded, maybe not at the PG spot as much, but honestly, DJ won't be a qualified PG in the NBA, and scouts know that, I think its a 65% chance he is back next year.

All he did was lead a pretty good conference in scoring and assists one year, and was the heart and soul of a decent team two years running. DJ playing in the pros is far more of a reach than Travis.

DAtruth

speed, athleticism, and ball handling skills..imo (have been watching the nba playoffs) are the biggest factors in drafting an nba pg...and i believe dj is above avaerage for the nba in 2 of the 3 and around average on the 3rd..

having seen dj go head to head with mike conley through the years(aau tournaments and indiana all stars)..and seeing how conley is projected to be a lottery type guy...i believe dj can move up a huge amount..

in the camps he will be surrounded by shooters and big men..no pg will have more weapons at their disposal than another..he will be able to showcase himself as a true pg..something that he never got to do at mu or in h.s. for that matter..
