At least according to ESPN's Jason King he is. Seem Marquette players always get overlooked by whoever's on the traditional Big East powers. This may be the year an MU player could actually grab it.

Big East Player of the Year:
West Virginia's Kevin Jones, Marquette's Darius Johnson-Odom or Syracuse's Dion Waiters?
“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

Right now, it's Jones' to lose. He's been unreal so far and is getting a lot of pub too. If he backs off late and DJO comes on, no reason he can't be the guy.

Looking at the stats as of today, it would seem hard to deny Kevin Jones averaging a double-double. But Dion Waiters only scoring 12.5 pts and only 2.6 ast? That team is deep and loaded, but doesnt really have a standout player/star with only 2 players scoring over 10 (12.5 and 13.7 respectively). Seems Crowder or Seton Hall's Pope deserve in the conversation more.

However, these are total season averages. Anyone know how to find big east play totals? I looked through ESPN and didn't see a way to divide it up.

I guess Pope isn't scoring as much since conference play began, but he's doing pretty much everything else.

Its Jones without a doubt right now. DJO is really only other player with a chance right now.

If you don't think DJO will be BE POY you are a hater.

DJO may be BE POY but he'll never play in the NBA.   ;)
