Clam Crowder

Mitch McGary dropped all the way down to #21 in the newest rankings. Steve Taylor is 85th...I don't recall what he was before the newer rankings but I feel like he was ranked higher than that. I don't know if they updated 2013 as well but FWIW Burton is 35th there.

Steve Taylor is getting murdered at that ranking. Best player in Illinois by a longshot.

Rankings always make me laugh. I believe Taylor was around 65 in the last rankings. So in that time, 25 players just somehow vaulted ahead of him while Taylor is the second best player for the top-ranked team in Illinois and top-10 in the nation?

Really tough to look at player rankings when neither Davante Gardner nor Todd Mayo were even CLOSE to ranked in the top 100.

Agreed. I expected him to be top-50 based on recent reports. I think his rankings are suffering playing alongside Parker. I'm still confident it won't have a negative impact on what he does here starting next year.

Before someone rips you for this, I completely agree.

I think Steve Taylors production or lack of it against Findley Prep dropped him down, right or wrong.  One lackluster performance on national TV is what tips rankings, just like the recent performance by a college team.

I'm a big fan of Taylor's and I definitely see him getting 20+ minutes next year.

Maybe it's one of those infamous anti-MU biases where his stock dropped once he committed to MU. Probably would've skyrocketed if he signed with Indiana.

I think you guys are misreading brew's comment.  I don't want to speak for him, but I read it just that Taylor will be productive, beginning immediately with next year.

Houston has 2 in the top 100( One in the top 20). I'm impressed. It would be good for the Big East if they can continue to recruit well..

Just reread Brew's post... You're right, my bad.

Yeah, I'm reading that again and think "starting" meant "beginning." Still, I believe Taylor starts at some point next year. I expect to see a lot of three-forward sets for Marquette in 2012-13, consisting of any combination of J. Wilson/S. Taylor, Gardner, Otule.

MattyWarrior

Steve Taylor dropped to 21 SF, Jamal Ferguson dropped to 53 SF, Durley 59 Centers and  Nolan 30 PF, and Burton stayed
the same at 35 overall. Taylor has had a great year besides one bad showing at Hoophall Tourny, and I heard he was sick.
ESPN only updates twice a year and most times they probably don't eveen see the kid in person.

Starting did mean beginning ;D

But I can see how it was misconstrued.

Did I miss Jabari in the ESPN 2012 recruit rankings?

Taylor is probably 3rd if you include Parker and Okafor, but he is the best 2012 by a longshot.

Yeah, I know.

When you said Steve Taylor was the best player in Illinois, didn't know if you were qualifying that as best Senior in illinois or as the best player in Illinois.  My bad.

Lennys Tap

Durley (#64 center, 82 grade, 2 star) was about where I figured. Ferguson (#61 SF, 88 grade, 2 star) was a bit of a disappointment. Hope the Taylors are ready to help next year.

JP Tokoto jumps to #65. I believe he was one slot behind Taylor in the last ranking.

When I watched highlights of Ferg from last week, the 1st thing that jumps out at me is that the shots that he makes and moves that he makes will be just as effective Vs College player's as High school.

Where was Wade ranked?

Gibbons had Wade at #55 with a bullet (not in his previous top 100). He didn't play much AAU so he didn't make many rankings, but he did have a HUGE senior year at Richards High (just outside of Chicago). I saw him put up 40 in back to back games in a tournament in Chicago his senior year. It was clear to all of us who watched him that day he'd be a star. He couldn't play as a freshman, but dominated Wardle and the rest of the varsity players in practice from day one and in pick up games he wowed the Bucks players.

Hey moderators, think there would be any traction to adding a separate posting category for recruit talk.- ie current season posts separated from the future stuff. Just an idea
