Better than DNP-Coach's Decision

Dr. Blackheart

With Otule up for two more years, expect Juco.  Win win

ecompt

This is why we need to keep signing players.

Juco or Prep?

Warrior1969

So then we will still have a whooooping 1 player over 6'7 next year, yippie!

Nah.  Otule, Gardner and Taylor (6ft8).  So far.....

Boone

So what? While Durley's over 6'7" he sure doesn't seem to be much of a player. If he found the court next year, something's terribly wrong.

Juco or Prep?

Juco as he is a qualifier.  Can come out at 1 or 2.  More PT at Juco for him as Prep is 3 thru 5 star nonqualifiers who will take the PT at Prep which he needs.  Plus Buzz the Juco connections to steward him.

ecompt

If he goes JUCO he will fall off the map. Buzz should sign Branch now.

+1. Sign effing Branch. If Buzz can't close this deal, there's a problem.

Am I missing something? Why did we sign a kid who can barely get in the game for his high school team? I understand he is huge, but it doesn't seem like he is going to provide any value to a team that is built to run offensively and plays a defense that even the "studs" on the team can't get right when it comes to rotations. Where does he fit into the program? I haven't seen him play and maybe the guy starting over him is a freak who can go the entire game without tiring and just dominates, but I just can't see how he fits into a team that plays like Buzz says ours wants to play.

That is the point.  He will have time to develop and Buzz has flexibility.  Kid needs PT, and with Otule back for 6, our needs shift.

Because also on his team is Cameron Ridley, a consensus top-ten prospect that plays center. The coach is pretty much enamored with Ridley (and who wouldn't be?) which means Durley only gets minutes when they are really killing someone. Durley was impressing enough in AAU to get interest from us and a few other high-majors, so I wouldn't panic over his HS time.

His coach is so into Ridley that he isn't giving any time to Durley? That seems odd that if Durely is good enough to go to a Big East school, the coach wouldn't find some way to have both of them on the floor at the same time. It seems like a wet dream come true for a high school coach to have two D-1 centers.

Only one center plays at a time.  And Ridley is going to play all the time.

Why play Jim McIlvaine if Shaq is on your team?

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

His coach says that he is better than Otule was at the same point and likes MU because of the job they did developing Chris when he wasn't injured.    Check Amal's high school stats.    He never played, either.   By the time he was a junior, he was a stud.   Durley is big.    Lets see what the coaches can do with him over a couple of years before we write him off.

I had brought up Amal in a previous thread about Durley.  I recall, many at the time were perplexed by O'Neill offering him a scholarship (that was pre-MUScoop).  O'Neill saw something in him.  Buzz see's something in Durley.  Time will tell.

I would argue that practicing against Cameron Ridley each day in practice is a lot more valuable than what most HS centers of his size get playing in games against severely undersized competition, so I'm totally with brewcity77 on this one.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Like Durley, McCaskill showed his stuff on the AAU circuit.  I think that the things that I read about McCaskill and why he was offered was the first time I became aware of how important AAU was to evaluating players.

You keep saying things like this over and over again!!!  I don't care who else is on his team.  He signed with Marquette, not Eau Claire.  You don't have 2 pts and 1 board in a HS game at that size.  He consistently struggles to get in the game!!!

I will await your STUPID RESPONSE!!!!

With the posts you have made, I am confident in the fact you have a 2 handed set shot for a jumper!!

Seems to me the "stupid" thing here would be to jump to a conclusion based on someone's playing time without having ever seen him or his team play.

Aaron wants to play. That is the only way he will get to practice on his skills. We as a family support the Bush team. Aaron is a team player. That's why we are so very happy that we signed with Marquette because in his 5 very short years in the states Marquette has seen the TOTAL package. Aaron has never had a coach that understood that he has lived in other countries for most of his life, other than Marquette. That is why it was such an easy choice for all of us. We loved that we signed with a GREAT TEAM and also a GREAT FAMILY!  :)
