Correct ... and their is no guarantee that he gets a medical hardship.  So, if you sit Otule this year and he does not get a medical hardship, you wasted a year.

Question - if the doctors have cleared Otule but Buzz does not want to play him (which is what Buzz's comment suggests) does that make it HARDER to get a medical hardship?  What hardship?  He's cleared to play and it could be argued that the coach is trying to game the system by sitting him and asking for an extra year of eligibility.

If he can play, bring him along slowly and play him.

I would think it would be near impossible to get the hardship waiver if he can actually play.

Bottom line - if he can play then suit up. If he cannot play then get him on the operating table and start recovering.
