While most of us probably wish we could say Mcguire, I for one would like to have an idea of MUScoop's actual demographics... (Mike Deane if any one cares)

drewm88

How about options for those who did not attend or haven't graduated yet?

ChicosBailBonds

Al DiUlio was the coach unfortunately  ;)   Mike Deane is spelled with an "e" at the end

Hmmm, I thought it was Sherrie Coe-Perkins . . . . .

Schoolyard

A year of KO and three w/ Deane-o...Made for fun games and even more more fun at Turners and Hegs.
My handle is Schoolyard but I do my best work at Finley Dunnes...Joe Kenny in '08

The Maestro. No one, no one since, I mean no one can even shine his shoes.
"Give 'Em Hell, Al"

I, too, was blessed w/ "give'em hell, Al".

Graduated in 2003...what a way to end college with a Final Four....

Started with KO, ended with the fiery Deane.

As much as I liked his gritty teams, I didn't care for his on-campus, in public presence. He always looked so goofy when he talked!

The Mike Deane years for me. Wasn't the best, but I have some fond memories. At the top of the list is the Mike Deane fist pump as he entered Turners following the big upset of Cincy. Had to be 98 or so. Huggy Bear came in for a few cold ones soon after. The CUSA tourney run was another fond memory. Deane was pretty rough around the edges, but he was always nice to me. I used to see him at East Hall frequently, and chat a little. Recruiting killed him. I think if he had better players, he most certainly would have been successful, because he knows how to coach. If he won, people would have been more tolerant of his other shortcomings.

Sir Lawrence

I was a freshman in 1977, so at least I get to say I was there for the big win.  Raymonds the rest of the way, including a second degree.  Actually, Hank put up some pretty good numbers--just couldn't recruit like Al.
Ludum habemus.

Nukem2

I was a frosh in 64-65, Al's first year.  I experienced all of McGuire regime and was a season ticket holder after graduating in '68.  Saw a lot of practices as well (as most pre-season Friday or Saturday nite practices were open at the Old Gym).  Was in Atlanta for the long championship weekend in 1977.  We celebrated long and hard that Monday nite/Tuesday morning drinking hurricanes (still have one of the glasses) at Underground Atlanta.  Was fun watching vendors trying to sell UNC championship t-shirts.

Pakuni

I was there for the end of the Dukiet era and the start of the O'Neill era: truly an ugly period in the history of Marquette basketball. Tony Smith was fun to watch, and you could see the promise in O'Neill's first class, but by-and-large it was a rough time to be an MU fan.

Avenue Commons

One year of Kevin O'Neill and three years of Dirty Mike Deane. Deane was the only MU coach I know of who regularly hung out in the campus bars. He could be really funny, but kind of crass as well.

Hank "We're allowed to call timeouts whenever we want?" Raymonds, then ending up with Rick "He's a bad player, but his sister was Miss America" Majerus. He was great in class. Had him for Theory of Coaching Basketball.

jutaw22mu

graduated the same year as diener.  i guess that makes crean the head coach.   ;)

Mayor McCheese

whos the other non-MU student on this site... just wondering?  The poll states two, so there is me, and ???

pure genius stuff by Bill Simmons, remember to read day 2

muarmy81

I came in during the Mike Deane era, and left during the start of the Crean era.  Unfortunately I graduated in 2002 and just missed the excitement of the final 4 atmosphere. (1998-2002)

only a warrior

wtf.... "Theory of Coaching Basketball"??  Did we really offer that as a class?  I should of paid more attention during registration!
