Beat Villanova and we will be all right. Lose and we could go a  long time before we get our first conference win. I think we are better than Pittsburg and St. John's, but losing to Villanova will change my feeling on that.

I think that with CO, we could still compete for the league. Everyone says we didn't beat anyone with him, but they seem to conveniently forget that we destroyed an Ole Miss team that is just as long and talented as LSU, and we won a game at Wisconsin that we rarely ever win. And I'm still not convinced either UW-M or Green Bay are any better than Norfolk State. Our schedule without Otule hasn't really been much more difficult than our schedule with him, contrary to everyone's opinions otherwise.

But I'm not expecting him back, so I said 11-7. Vandy was the most talented team we've seen so far, and despite their poor early form, they are a lot more talented than teams like 'Nova, Pitt, St. John's, USF, SHU, and Rutgers. We should still win 7-9 games at home, and I think we can snatch at least 3 on the road.

When all is said and done, I think we're looking at an 11-7 or 12-6 team. Losing to Vandy and LSU sucks, but I have a hard time believing the other 15 teams in the Big East are going to give us issues like those two teams did. Despite some early season struggles Vandy is a top 10 team. While LSU isn't, we did lose on their court the Monday after finals week, so I'm sure that played into the end result.

This is a good team...are we Syracuse good...no, but we are still better than most of the teams in the BEast. Everyone needs to back off the ledge, take a deep breath, and relax. At least we didn't lose to someone like Norfolk State or Winthrop. Honestly, when the season began I figured we'd be 11-2 going into conference with our two loses coming against one of the UW's and the other coming against Vandy. Going into conference play, despite the loss of Otule, I still feel like 11-7 or 12-6 is possible.

As the season progresses, things will get better. I'm fine with taking a loss like this right now rather than in February or March. Thursday night is a great teaching moment. This team will be fine, they just need to pull themselves together, quit settling for the 3, and get back to what works...attacking the rim. Also, some guys on the team (Jae and Blue) could afford to work on some lay up drills.
