TC saw Jordan play late this season -- but who knows if he was there to get a glimpse of Jeffrey, his brother Marcus, Robbie Wennington or perhaps Rob Belcore.

Still, its interesting......per Bullseye, Jordan has offers from Valpo and Davidson (could team with Dell Curry's son - cool) but "t is becoming an increasing possibility that Jordan could end up walking on at a higher level school."

I wonder if MU is one of those possibilities?

It'd be cool to have MJ sitting in the BC for homers, in a nice gold suit.

That is, of course, as long as they realize he earns PT based on talent and practice, and not money and having a famous last name.  What a nightmare that could be.

Not sure about other coaches, but Crean puts in the walk-ons only for the last few seconds of blow outs.

Avenue Commons

I don't see this happening, unless the kid walks on. If I was Jeffrey Jordan, I'd get far away from Chicago. Milwaukee is probably only 50 minutes from Highland Park where he lives.

Bob Sakamato reported at the Chicago Tribune that teammate Joe Suhey, son of former Chciago Bears fullback Matt Suhey, and Jeff Jordan friend, is trying to talk him in to going to Penn St with him.  Suhey is going there to play football, where Suhey's dad played football.  Penn St. has entered the mix with Valpo and Davidson.

Northwestern and Illinois have asked him to come and be a "preferred" walk-on.

Given how notoriously hard Jordan was on his teammates, I wonder how hard he is on Jeff, and/or how hard he wants the coaches to push Jeff.

We know TC doesn't accept anything less than 100% effort, his practices are very hard.

I wonder if Jordan would embrace a coach like that and be "hands off", or if he would want to have input.

If we could get Jeff and have Mike stay out of the coaching and just watch... I think that would be a pretty nice bump for the program. Can't hurt anyways.

ilovefreeway

A story was done in the Chicago area about this team this year.  (Matt Suey & Bill Wennington's kids are also on the team).  And it detailed how far Mike goes to stay a "normal" parent at the games and leave the coaching to the coaches.

Michael Jordan goes to most of his games and acts like any other parent...better than many actually.  He doesn't interfere with the coaching at all.  His kids are very team oriented and are better spoken than many kids their age.

Would Jeff want the challenge of perhaps sitting on the bench and never seeing the court if he isn't good enough at a high major?  Would he improve enough to see the court at all or more often?  Would he rather go somewhere where he would play sooner and perhaps more often?  That is pretty much the decision.  Jeff Jordan works extremely hard and would have zero problem with Crean's practices.  He has a very good attitude.

Michael Jordan isn't the type of parent to interfere with his sons' basketball playing.  He sent them to a school and let the coaches coach them.

I don't know how hard he rides them at home, but by all appearances they are normal kids who are very good basketball players.  The comments about wanting Jeffrey, but only if MJ keeps his nose out of the program are ridiculous.  As are the comments that we would only want Jeffrey if he doesn't come in seeking entitlemenet minutes "based on his last name."

This kid and his family have absolutely ZERO history of that kind of thing.  He's a very good player on a very good team.  People who think he's only on schools' radars because of his name have never seen him play.

I'm hearing Jeff Jordan to George Washington

Canned Goods n Ammo

all good points guys.

I will take your word(s) for it.

I don't know how likely it is that Jeff comes to MU, but given some of your feedback I think its a win-win for MU if he wants to walk on.

You get a kid that could develop, and you get some good pub from having a "Jordan".

HONESTLY WHO CARES ABOUT JORDAN'S SON. WHY ARE WE TALKING ABOUTHIS HERE. HE ISN'T EVEN THAT GOOD.

Who really cares why you write in caps or don't think he is any good?

Jordan's son mentioned Marquette in the recruiting process.  Marquette looked at him for a while.  He would be a walk on at Marquette.  It's okay to skip over a thread or post if you aren't interested.

MUCHI814

Personally if there is gonna be a walk on I'd rather it be Jordan's kid than someone other guy whose name I'll forget in a couple years.  I think Jeffrey Jordan would be better than any other walk-on that MU has had in the past.

OneMadWarrior

I just don't understand why we would even want him to come in. Point Guard isn't an area of need. Why even bring him in if he isn't' going to get any playing time. Unless his father plans on outfitting the team in jumpman apparel or donates money for a new academic building, what would be the point of signing a point guard who from what I have seen isn't even that impressive.

I won't speak for others, but from my perspective if Jeff is going to walk on, how can it hurt?

He comes from a good school that traditionally has good teams (so its good for future recruiting), from all accounts he's a hard working kid, and his last name is JORDAN, so that could provide a nice bump to MU if he were to develop and/or if Mike were to get involved with the program AFTER Jeff is gone. (Too many politics could develop if Mike were to become a major booster while Jeff was is school.)

I don't think anybody here was implying that Jeff should get a scholarship, just talking (not even debating) if having Jordan walk-on would be positive or would it be a distraction.

Given the comments by some here, I would NOT expect M. Jordan to buy a building or uniforms, which I think is good while Jeff is in school (after jeff is gone, let the money roll in).

Sorry that you had to read that. We can now get back to the normal "criticize Crean" and then "defend Crean" scenario that everybody is so fond of.

UPDATE:

I don't know who the caller was or wtf he really knows, but somebody just called Homer's show 20min ago and said he heard MU signed Jeff Jordan to a scholarship offer.

I have no idea if this is true or not.... just reporting what a caller was "claiming".

Has anybody else heard anything?

He's out of town for Spring Break this week...so that would be a neat trick.

To take your quetion seriously....no, that is not a possibility.  MU right now is already one over their limit in scholarships.  If DJ comes back, someone has to go currently on the team or incoming.

Jordan is being asked by most high major schools to walk on as a preferred walk on....

He could always come as a preferred walk on, not as a scholarship player though.

Mayor McCheese

the reason why I would love Jeffrey Jordan on MU is....

if he is a hard worker like we are talking about on here... he has the genes, he seems like he could be a very positive development and turn into a very good player... AND then I can brag to all my Bucky friends that we have Jeffrey Jordan   :)

If these rumors are true it would mean one thing for sure...more transfers!

Honestly, I have seen Jordan play. He is not a high D1 prospect. To me, it would be completely dumbfounding.

Of course, it would be consistent with our coach's love for all things celebrity.

PRN with another thread hijacked into Anti-Crean.

Excellent!

When are you going to move onto the pizza thread and blame the closing of Guiliano's on Tom Crean?

C'mon dude.

This was a pretty good thread with some good exchanges between several posters. Then you show up.

I even refferenced the normal "anti-Crean" stuff that goes on around here earlier in the thread, and then you come in and make it come true.

Hilarious.

Anyone here know where Kareem's son played?

He played at western Kentucky. Just because the person has genes doesn't mean he will be a great player. If that were the case all great players would be related to Wilt Chamberlain during his Sexcapapdes during the 60's and 70's.

Jeff Jordan being Jordan's son isn't what makes him a good college basketball prospect.

He's a very good ballhandler and passer, he's big for a high school guard and certainly big enough to play guard in college, he's got a good head on his shoulders, a decent jump shot.

He's played on teams (both at Loyola and in summer leagues/AAU) with very good, higher profile players, so he's not a ball hog or "the show."  He can co-exist and play within the team.

He's not Jerel McNeal, but he's certainly not bad.  He's a good college basketball prospect.

There's not a chance in the world that he signed to come to Marquette on scholarship.  There's been no news of that in Chicago, and it would make the papers.

I don't see that as a possibility.

77fan88warrior

They had tape of him from his old mans tournament on CNBC this morning. They showed an alley opp from practice and a layup from dad's game. He seemed humble in his interview and mentioned that he wasn't recruited early because everyone assumed that he was going to NC. They showed two scholarship offers as Valparaiso and I forget who.  Forget who is listed as a 4 seed for next years tourney.(sarcasm off) Both schools have enrollment of around 2k.They also mentioned him walking on at Illinois, Northwestern, and Penn State. They talked about marketing benefit to the two small schools. Valparaiso's athletic dept. or basketball team lost 350,000 last year.
