I know there are a lot of ND Haters on the board but this is beautiful.  I will be cheering against all defectors in the Big East when they play other Big East members this year.

Pittsburgh and Providence look terrible tonight

If I could correct your post, it would be "I will be cheering against all defectors in the Big East."  Doesn't mattee to me who Pitt, SU or WVU play, I will cheer against them.  When they play each other, I will cheer for a UW/PSU style of basketball game.

Not sure if you watched most of the game, but we might have lost tonight. ND was making tons of 3s and tough shots.

ND was insane from threes in second half and at one point late was 75% fg percentage.

Pitt was 1 for 14 from threes for the game.  After loss to Wagner, who knows.  How Dante Taylor was a McDonald's AA is just unreal.  He has looked terrible for three years now.

Neither team seems very talented when I compare them to MU. That's not to say either couldn't beat us on any given night, but I think it's becoming clear that we have a chance to win this league.

I've felt Marquette was a legitimate title contender twice since the Big East: Buzz' first year; and, this season.

Only Cuse is clearly above MU. UConn and Ville are on the same level. Hoyas, Pitt, etc. below just a notch.

The key is mental. Do they have what it takes to win when their game plan is stifled? The evidence is mixed but it'll be fun to see what lies ahead.

LaPhonso Ellis said that the loss of Otule may prevent from contending for the league championship.   This amid many compliments about our defense, our attacking nature and explosiveness.     BTW, is Brey using more hair product than last year.   Kind of icky.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Excellent comment.  That is a reason why the LSU loss does not bother me.  It was a game which LSU took away what MU does.  MU adjusted, but did not finish.  They will learn from that loss and it will help during the conference season.

I'm really surprised by tonight. How ND without Abromaitis beats Pitt makes no sense. I had little faith in Pitt preseason, but with the return of Woodall and ND having such a lackluster non-con, I really thought the winning streak at the Joyce would end tonight.

And Providence losing to St. John's? I'll be the first to admit that PU had a stinky non-con schedule, but when you specialize in getting up and down the court and you're playing a team with such a short bench, how do you not run them off the floor?

Maybe I'm just forgetting how important home court is in this league.  ?-(

After beating them last March, I believe Syracuse has something to prove to us. We are tougher than them. They may have more talent, but we have tenacity on our side. Time will tell!!!

After beating them twice last year, that little voice in the back of their head may have them looking over their shoulder.....at least for the first few possessions.  Then, we need to hit on all cylinders...like we can.

If we stay focused, and have solid outings against our next couple of games.......

Notre Dame may not be an easy out, but I'm still of the opinion that Pitt is in the second tier of the Big East. Something tells me that homecourt streak will no longer be intact when we arrive, considering both UConn and Syracuse travel to the Joyce before our February 4th visit.

And if it is, it'll just make it that much sweeter ending their 31-game home winning streak.

Going out on a limb and saying Pitt doesn't make the tournament this year.

If this is true, no more than 6 teams from the BE make the tourney... maybe 5

6 teams?  Maybe I'm just bullish, but I think the BE will get 8 or 9. I do think Pitt will make it, but they will be a bubble team most of the season.  A team not to sleep on is Seton Hall.  When your two best players (theodore and pope) are seniors, you can do some damage, or at least enough to stay in the discussion.  I think the locks are Cuse, MU, UConn, G-town and Louisville.  I think the bubble teams that get in will be will be Hall, Pitt and West Virginia (another team with two really good seniors).  Nova and Cincy will be in the discussion but fall short.

Disagree completely. 'Cuse, UConn, MU, 'Ville and GTown are virtual locks. You really think there's no chance WVU and Cincy could make it? Even SHU and 'Nova have a shot. With a field of 68, we could still get 7-8 without Pitt.

I guess its a matter of opinion.  I think Pitt is better than WVU and Cincy.  And better coached.  Although Pitt is not what it used to be, Pitt hit a buzzsaw last night with ND.
