Has anybody heard how Mbakwe and his team did this year? i looked on one web site and could not find his name listed as a leader in his conference. How did he fare this year and what were his stats? Can he play the post, or will we be hurting there again next year? Thanks.

Trevor probably will play some at the 5 behind Barro.  But, his true position is probably at the 4.  His team finished in 3rd place for its division (smaller schools).  Don't recall the numbers, but he was pretyy much at 20+ pts. and 10+ rebounds.

Niv Berkowitz

His team lost in the state title game. He didn't play a ton becuase he got into foul trouble. I think he still wound up with like 17/10 or something a little more than that.

That was the only loss they had all year.  Not much challenge in the weakest of 4 divisions in MN.  I also thought it was the semi-final game, but I could be mistaken.

It was the semi-final game.  Trevor's team then won the 3rd place game (guess MN still has consolation games).

He might have been in the weakest division but they played a tough out of conference schedule including the likes of Randolph, Tosa West and Milwaukee Marquette.  Also lets not forget that Mbakwe enrolled at St. Bernard for academic reasons.  Here are some links to various articles and websites regarding Mbakwe and St. Bernards including two from Mark Miller.

Here is one final link that mentions what Mbakwe averaged, 23.7 points and 12.7 rebounds.

And finally here is a link from JS online with a quote from TC

Trevor Mbakwe, forward, St. Bernard's (St. Paul, Minn.) -- Mbakwek, who is 6 feet 7 inches, 225 pounds, is the top-rated senior prospect in Minnesota. He averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds a season ago at Henry Sibley High School, also in the Twin Cities.

"A guy that we feel is a cornerstone of this class," said Crean of Mbakwe. "He's been a priority of this program for three years. It was a long process recruiting him but one that has been a lot of fun. He's very physical, he's long, he's athletic, he's building a perimeter game that allows him to drive the ball to the rim.

"He can score at the rim, he's got excellent ability to jump on the second and third effort. He's very, very tough-minded and played in a lot of big basketball games. He loves the game, he loves to work on his game."
