I predict that he will get playing time right away next year if he can rebound anything like that at the college level.

Dr. Blackheart

I have seen him play a few times this season. The most impressive thing about Steve is he is a complete team player.  He does it all.  Has really improved his inside game. Smith rarely takes him out as he rarely makes mistakes on either end. While Parker has the talent and the eyeballs, no question Steve's stock will rise.  Still very underrated, and as I see Shaw grabbing a handful of minutes at the end of the Illini bench, I am glad MU missed on him and landed Steve. This will be another freshman-ready recruit by Buzz.

MattyWarrior

Player of the game, does everything well and it looks like his rebounding is up this year. The only position lacking on
Simeon is a true center.

Blackheart, according to your eyeballs, how tall is he?

Seems more 6'7+" to me than 6'9".

sorry for being so out of the recruiting loop, but is Steve Taylor the same person as T.J. Taylor?

Where has he been listed at 6'9''?

I've only seen him in the 6'7''-6'8'' range.

No.  2 Taylors next season.

Nope, TJ is a 6'4" PG (that's been recently reported as more of a switchable) from Texas.  Steve is from Chicago.

Buzz himself calls Taylor a switchable.

No I'm sure he thought of him as a switchable (instead of a PG) long before last week.  He just didn't (couldn't) say much about him.

jficke13

ah thanks. I checked the wiki, but didn't see a Steve Taylor for next year so wasn't sure.

Three things:

1.  Steve Taylor could be the Todd Mayo of 2012-2013, those stats he's putting up are in a really legit and difficult HS league in Chicago.  He seems as if, like "The Spread", he is ready to play IMMEDIATELY.

2.  TJ Taylor seems like a DJO clone, lefty scorer who is very versatile, and can handle the ball.  I hope he can shoot the three as well as DJO does.

3.  Very quietly, Jamal Ferguson keeps putting up good scoring numbers.

REALLY starting to like this recruiting class.  LOADED.

I've only seen him in the 6'7''-6'8'' range.

There was some spec. when he signed that he was closer to 6'9" by one of the Illinois services, IIRC, there was some chatter about it.  Not Bulls-eye, but maybe Poneman or the Illini board?  I forget...will try to find it.

I saw Steve Taylor play a couple of times last year and once this year. I would say he is 6'8'', a little taller than Jamil Wilson.

He will definitely play good minutes next year and I think he could be really, really good here. He is a solid rebounder, who can rebound outside his area and offensively he has that inside/outside game similar to Lazar and Jae. In terms of what MU does with that position, he is a great fit.

Although Parker is the best player on that Simeon team, I think Taylor is their most important. They don't have any size, and they need Taylor to control the boards in order for them to get out in transition.

Stretchdeltsig

Is Taylor listed at 6'8" or 9" in his high school roster?

Taylor gets a couple mentions and shows a nice post move before dishing it to Jabari Parker. The high school game is incredibly slow compared to college though.
