Tirico and co-announcer (no idea who it is) stating Jimmy V's memorable speech was the greatest speech given in the sports world. THoughts? Gehrig gave a pretty moving one as well.

Totally agree, I have it recorded and have watched it with my kids.  When you understand just how sick he was, at the time of the speech, he could barely stand, it makes the speech even more impressive.

As a Packer fan I have always LMAO when Valvano describes his 1st pre-game speech

WI inferiority Complexes

I can't stand Notre Dame, but the Knute Rockne one imitated in Rudy is also very famous.

Bob Costas actually gave a beautiful speech at Mickey Mantle's funeral, and Jack Buck made an entire stadium cry at the first Cardinals' game after 9/11, but I agree with Tirico that Valvano's is the best speech.

My enjoyment of the speech has been soured a bit once I learned of all of Valvano's improprieties as coach there.
