Cadougan's midrange game

Cadougan's midrange game has impressed me this year.  It's clearly something he worked hard on this summer.  He's not afraid to pop it and has hit at least one or two a game thus far.  He really made Jacksonville pay when they sagged off him on the pick and roll tonight.  If he can extend that out to three point range and tighten up his ball handling this coming off-season, he'll be just about as close to the perfect offensive PG as you can get.

I really like what I'm seeing from Cadougan.  He has excellent vision and rarely turns the ball over.  His midrange game has been wonderful this year and he has shown the ability to penetrate and score.  He is developing into a very nice player.

All summer, my mantra was that for Junior to be a great PG for us, he needed to add a reliable 12-15 foot jumper. Threes are great, but you just have to make sure teams must respect you enough to defend you. He can drive and now hit the mid-range shot. With his distribution, he's just what we needed after a season of Buycks at PG.

Aside -- I like Buycks as a player, but he just isn't suited to be a 1.

Agreed on Junior, and how about Derrick registering another 17 minutes today without a turnover.  That's 67 minutes and TWO turnovers for the freshman.  I know he isn't having to do a lot (just 6 assists and 4 points) outside of playing really tough defense, but I really think he can give Junior a solid 5, even 10 minutes rest on the bench even in big games this year.  His defense just looks rock solid to me, and if he can play strong defense and not turn it over, there is a lot to like.

If Buycks were 6'5", he would probably be a legit NBA prospect. I'm not saying he'd have been drafted, but with his raw athleticism and shooting ability, he'd be a pretty good option as a bench 2/3 in the league. If he were 6'7"...ahh, what might have been.

If James doesn't get injured against UConn, I think they may have been a Final Four team anyway.

Buzz does a good job at finding guys that don't necessarily have the NBA frame but have the skillset. He's turned Lazar into a center, Jimmy (junior year) and Jae into power forwards, and Buycks into a point guard.

Not sure how it will work for these guys' pro careers, but it's been pretty successful for this level.
