The high school section in Street & Smith's 2006-07 College Basketball yearbook includes a ranking of the top seniors as well as non-seniors. Two Wisconsin players are rated as high honorable mention among the underclassmen--Korie Lucious, a 5'11" junior from Milwaukee Pius XI and Evan Anderson, a 6'10" freshman from Stanley-Boyd in Stanley. These are pre-season ratings, so the 6'10" incoming frosh really caught my attention.  Anybody from Wisconsin know anything about these guys and the level of Marquette's interest?

They better be interested in Anderson.  I know that both Crean and Ryan have seen him play.  He was 6' 9" in 8th grade.  He'll go to WI because it has been ingrained into his DNA.  They are all Badger lovers over there!

I believe they passed a state law: If you are from Stanley Boyd,  6' 10" or above you have to go to UW.

Korie is going to Michigan State.

Anderson has been recruited by Marquette since he was in the 7th grade.

In case you unfortunately never been acquainted with the small towns of western Wisconsin, (and I hope I don't offend anyone with my over-generalization) Stanley-Boyd is about as far as you can get from a Marquette fan base. Over there, you bleed Rodent Red. Unless, of course, you're one of those new neighbors from across the river who like the Gophers. If we plucked this guy from Bucky, it would be a great day.

Isn't Christopherson a "Western WI " recruit ?   How old is BO ?  When does his age start working against him?

drewm88

Sorry, I should have specified. I meant western Wisconsin as in the void between LaCrosse and Eau Claire. In the cities you find more Marquette fans, especially with a decent-sized Catholic community (LaCrosse itself and Aquinas high school).

I had an email "conversation" with a Wisconsin coach in the Stanley-Boyd region. He talked about this kid like he was a developing talent in the HS ranks and a high recruit.

Wasn't Evan Anderson at a game this year with his dad openly cheering for MU - something you rarely see recruits do when attending games.  Or is it another recruit I'm thinking of?

I always thought that to be a pretty positive sign.
If you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter.

Yes, he was at the Pitt game.  Down in front of me.  I believe he is affiliated with the Playground Warriors AAU Team.

FWIW, he was wearing a MU shirt.

We NEED this guy!

I imagine the NEED is strictly perception related rather then talent related seeing as this kid still hasn't gotten a pimple?
