Suspended for an additional three games after UCONN kept him out of first three. Article says he will be allowed to travel with the team to the Bahamas for Battle 4 Atlantis.

Did we keep Juan from traveling to the USVI or was that NCAA sanctioned?

NCAA suspensions exclude players from traveling. Boatright's case is unique in that regard. Not sure what merits him to travel over Juan, however.

I'm sure Juan had classes this week. Unlike UConn, Marquette actually cares about their players going to class at least some of the time.

My understanding is that it was the NCAA that prohibited Juan to travel. It could be that MU didn't push the NCAA to allow him to travel, but if that is the case, nobody is aware of it.

Keep in mind that MU had to book a separate flight for Juan. As a student, I would have preferred that $400 be used towards bettering the school rather than booking unnecessary travel.

Why exactly is supporting a program that brings in a five million dollar profit each year unnecessary?

Oops, I almost forgot we're also talking about a program that generates more alumni interest (and therefore alumni donations) then any other University program.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

That's completely irrelevant. Juan could have either flown with the team for an additional zero dollars or booked a separate flight for $400. The point is that he should have been allowed to travel with the team to avoid senseless expenses.

we need the tax write-offs plus basketball is our football

Juan couldn't travel. As a suspended player the NCAA mandates the athlete to attend all classes during the suspended time period.
