Nice pickup for Michigan.  He turned down Florida and Duke.

Would have looked good in MU blue and gold.

Maybe someday we'll hear those words from a 6-10 5 star stud who can play right away. Keep working it,Buzz!
I'm glad he didn't go to Duke.

Bielein is starting to get it done recruiting-wise at Michigan.    They could be a power.

Problem is, Bielein is still the coach.
Q: What's the difference between Bo Ryan and God?
A: God doesn't think he's Bo Ryan!!

I live about 10 minutes from Ann Arbor and have followed the program pretty closely over the last nine years.  Beilein has the program moving.  A new, state of the art, practice facility has opened (sound familiar?).

They had a nice year last season and poised for even bigger things this year.  Now, a top 5 recruiting class . . .

Michigan is making big strides.

Go Warriors.

Good, so that's another Big 10 team that'll bury IU.

Did MU have any shot at this kid other than passing interest in the beginning?

Before he reclassified to the class of '12, we probably did. After that happened we were a long shot.

Yes, but I do see Indiana being picked to sneak back in the tourney this year.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

Was that prior to Creek's injury?

Fixed-

Good, so that's another Big 10 team that'll bury IU and the Badgers.  (One can only hope).

Why so?

Too much competition in '12 year?

Given that Creek was coming off his second broken patella and given that he was a liability last year while trying to come back from his first broken patella, I doubt he was being counted on for much by anyone. Too bad as he seems like a nice kid.

Sort of. For a while he was only a 3 star prospect - a guy with with size and strength but someone who hadn't put it all together yet on the court. He started to play a lot better and really improved his game after reclassifying, and once schools like Texas, Michigan, Maryland, Duke, etc. starting taking notice of him, we were pretty much out of it.

Yeah - and probably because Marquette has never been able to sign the Number 2 kid in the country for the last 35+ years...

Perhaps if Crean were here he would have landed McGary.  Or wait, McGary is an Indiana native, Chesteron, IN - still didn't choose It's Indiana, It's Indiana - I wonder why?  Oh wait a minute - he didn't play for the Indiana Elite AAU team...no wonder why Crean couldn't land him.

Thanks for the insight.

I hadn't really heard his name much out here so didn't follow the recruitment at all.

But the Wolverines continued to stick to the plan: following McGary's every move, working every connection from former high school teammate Zack Novak to current AAU teammate and Michigan commitment Glenn Robinson III, and putting the full court press on his AAU coach, Wayne Brumm.

Good article with related links, including the part about him suffering from ADHD.
