All state as a sophomore in Texas seems like a huge deal. Does the achilles injury forcing him out last year explain why his star rating was low on rivals?

Awesome post, Tom. Thanks for the info! Welcome to the Warriors, Aaron!

Yes.  Basically, while everyone else is getting evaluated, injured players can't be and thus they drop on lists.

Hopefully now the people who were attacking Tom Enlund 5 minutes after he got the gig can get off his back.  It's early, but he's doing a nice job.

Come on now.  He is not on twitter so that means he is nothing and adds nothing!

I should hope to expect to be beat in the next 4-5 blog entries.

Edit:
Great get by MU.  Can't teach size.  Definitely a Buzz-kind-of-recruit: "Under the radar" and will hopefully follow the same path/progression as Gardner.  Good article as well.

Look forward to having a new big.  And yes, an excellent write-up by Tom.

Favorite quote from the article:

QuoteAsked about his impression of Williams, Durley said, "He wants the best for his players. He works them halfway to death and he expects greatness out of them, and the players give him greatness. That's exactly what I want in a program and in a coach."

Love what it says about the coach.  Love what it says about the player.

Where is Ners complaining that Tom will be just a lazy old time reporter!  Keep it up.

I've not been very critical of Enlund - not sure why you feel the need to call me out?  This was a nice write up - and hope it continues.  If it makes you feel any better, in my view virtually anyone was going to be a step down from Todd Rosiak.  In my view Rosiak was the best MU beat writer in the last 20 years I've been following the program.  Enlund has big shoes to fill...that's all.  I hope he gives us content similar in quality and volume that Todd did.  This blog was a step in the right direction.

People are right to be skeptical given that Rosiak was the opposite of what the JS has provided to MU coverage in the past.

As for this blog entry, it's a ho hum couple of quotes. Nothing earth shattering. The proof will be borne through the next six months of coverage.

As someone who called Enlund out publicly, I am very happy to see this report and appreciate it.

Let's hope reports like this continue.

That is last time I will say anything.  I have known Tom for over 40 years and he was a solid writer on the Bucks, solid player at Hale, all-conference, so he has some insight on hoops.
I do not know Todds backround but I am sure Toms backround is as solid as Todds knowing basketball.  Tom during the Bucks era had no blogs, twitters, etc. for at once media insight.
As you can tell, he is on top of the MU stories already.  The real discussions will come when he can give some insight in what he is seeing on the floor.  His relationship with Buzz, will
Buzz be upset if he writes something negative?  Todd did a fine job, I expect nothing but the same from Tom, or we should all call Tom out if he does not.

Durley announced his commitment via Twitter around 8:00 last night and Enlund contacted him, interviewed him and posted his interview by about 11:30.  Feel free to be skeptical if you want, and make him prove himself over the next six months, that's fine.  But give the guy some credit for what he did do.

Enlund took a lot of shots and abuse before he had a chance to live up to - or down to - those expectations.

Since he has been announced, he has reported several things in his MU blog.  I am looking forward to a blog/article or two about the team and their practices.  But to date, he has done a decent job of getting MU information out there.

Had he been in place when Steve Taylor committed, we would have likely had a decent article accompanied with comments from Taylor.

Just a thought----Like the addition of Durley, it would be nice to get Nolan also. Reason: Develop Nolan at PF. He doesn't weigh that much, but has a long reach which would be a good compliment to the center. Also, Nolan I believe is much better facing the basket and
probably runs faster. Fits our offense scheme. Think Durley is a good pickup for this time of year.

tower912

Getting Nolan would require us to oversign.   I suspect we will not see as much of that going forward.

I had some dealings with Tom during his time with the MKE Bucks, and Tom was nothing but nice - so I have NO bad feelings toward Tom.  I hope he digs in to the MU beat, as he is knowledgeable on basketball as you point out.  I personally don't care about Twitter...I care about blogs and stories like the one he posted on Durley.  Big kudos to Tom for having a blog written and posted 3 hours from the time Durley announced.  Now that is top notch.

I really would like to see him do a nice piece on Deonte Burton - thought it was a shame how the JS had virtually no story on a kid who is without question the Top 2013 recruit in the state...and now with Deonte being back in MKE - why not?!

So did Buzz. That is what you get form some posters on this board.

Hey Ners--Only because the JS is probably run by Wis. Alumni. I think the JS did a nothing job on Taylor and Burton's recruiting. They're reporting for MU sports stinks.

The Journal will have all the time in the world to write really good stories about Burton, 2 years worth.  Can he play this year at Vincent?  I think that is the first big question to be
asked.  I am sure we will all find out from the prep analysis coming in 30-40 days or whenever they do the story on the top teams and kids in the area.  They always seem to go a good
job in that area.  Burton has to be the best kid in Milwaukee right now.

I agree with your rationale on Nolan, but if we oversign, Phil Nolan is not the guy we will oversign for.
