The women are now 5th in the coaches poll
http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/soccer-women/d1/nscaa_coaches

And the BE undefeated men are garnering some votes, with a couple tough games upcoming against Gtown tomorrow night at VF and #1 UCONN on the road.

Women's volleyball also undefeated in Big East, although they lost a tough non-conference game on the road tonight.

Has Marquette been good for the Big East? And vice versa?

Women's soccer has been good ever since Markus Roeders took over, so that's a wash.

This is the most conference games that men's soccer has won in the Big East at 5. The previous best was 3 each of the last two years.

I'd have to go back and check, but I want to say that volleyball got a lot better when Bond Shymansky took over as coach.

If nothing else, it shows a commitment from the university to be competitive in every sport.

Not to wax our own car, but Anonymous Eagle has been following the soccer and volleyball programs all season. :)

Question for the expert: Is this the highest they have ever been rated? I think 2006 was close to this, IIRC.  Thanks

Not the expert, but yes, the highest they were ranked before was 6th in 2005. From a few weeks ago: "The Golden Eagles climbed three spots
in the NSCAA Continental Tire Poll and two
spots in the Soccer America Top 25 polls to
rank 10 and 13, respectively. MU checked
in at No. 1 in the Northeast Region rankings
this week for the fourth time this season.
Its No. 8/9 ranking MU achieved for
the week of Sept. 12 is the highest ever
since the Golden Eagles were ranked No.
9/6 on Oct. 4, 2005.
Dating back to last season, Marquette
has been ranked in the top 25 of at least
one national poll for the last 13 weeks.
MU is 3-1 against ranked teams this
season."
