Surprisingly no MU (expected to see them somewhere b/t 18-25), but count me as one person that likes the underdog role that MU players seem to thrive in. Bulletin board material.

“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

Exactly.  Buzz's teams do best when he can ride them because people aren't showing them respect.

After Philadelphia being labled the "Dream Team" it became obvious how little preseason pundits matter.

Especially w/ Xavier at number 13... I guess they think losing Jimmy will pull us down that far.

I always wondered why winning two games in NCAA tournament that we were not favored to win should result in us being ranked the next year. I still think we are going to be a good team and have a very good chance of being ranked at year end. I just do not think on paper we look like a ranked team. Somebody looking at our roster will see the following key players Blue, Cadougan, Otule, Gardner and Wilson all averaged 4-5 pts a game. Just by looking at the stats you see MU having a two man team in DJO and Crowder.

I think that Vince Young not the pundits deserve the credit (blame?) for naming Philly the Dream Team.

Freakin Cal???? Like California Cal???????????????

Thats insulting right there.
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

I have to agree with bilsu.  I don't think it's that big of a surprise that we aren't ranked right now.

Not ranked by one writer. My guess is when the actual polls come out, we'll be right around the top 20 range. Most independent outlets seem to have us ranked.

Parrish smokes crack.

Villanova at 25 when most think they will suck. Palm doesnt even have them in his tourney field while we are at a 6.

And need I say it again......freakin Cal?????????? They sucked last year and bring in nothing special this year. I can tell you 1st hand, Justin Cobb being a "key newcomer" is not a key at all.

I agree with bilsu. If you are just looking at 340 teams on paper you just see stats on returning players and lost players, and maybe instant impact 5 star freshman. Bat that level, I dont think MU starts in the top 25.

However, following the team closely, I believe we are all confident MU can finish well up in the rankings.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

You could have said the same thing at the start of last season after Zar, Cubie and Acker left and I suppose you are right that we were unranked most of the year.  However, that's what I love about college basketball.  Someone must get the minutes of those who depart and must step up their game. Each year, after Buzz's first year, I see the overall talent level on the team getting better.  That means that there are more pieces to the puzzle who can step up and more margin for error.  This year, I think it will be a combination of Cadougan, Gardner and Wilson which fills the hole left by Jimmy (and less so by Buycks).

Aaaaaand schools that have leaving the Big East (UCONN, Syracuse) are 3 and 4 respectively. Sigh.

UConn is leaving? I know they want to, but unless something changed, I don't think they're going anywhere yet.
