A long read for anyone interested.  It covers the formation of the NCAA and the entire history of TV contracts.  I wasn't aware that the NCAA controlled the football TV contracts for everyone until they lost a 1984 Surpreme Cout case.

I read this last week....and Jim McIlvaine mentioned the same article in is ESPN 540 Blog.

I think Mac's blog pointed out the most interesting item in this article....The BCS league or anyone for that matter...will be hard pressed to pay student athletes simply because they would student athlete would become an employees of the University...which then opens the Univeristy to Workman Comp claims for injuries during participation in athletic functions they are being paid for.  That is something University's do not want to be stuck with.

Highly recommend everyone to read this article.....a lot of interesting tid-bits throughout that pertain to other non-basketball related incidents involving Agents and there relationship to baseball players who get drafted while in college.

Someone also referenced this on Grantland (Bill Simmons) site when this college reallignment all started
