Response from Wes
#RealTalk. Why? Not at all

@wessywes2 You would have been a legend in the state if you were a Badger. Now you're just some dude. It's cool though, I ain't mad at ya.

Quote
@UWChuckSchwartz last time i checked, Marquette was still in the state. Glad you not mad at me. I'm cool wit just being some dude

@wessywes2 Didn't mean just some dude you're obviously tits at ball. Just think your legacy in the state as a Badger would have been greater

He could have been legendary...like Brian Butch or Keaton Nankivil.

TheFarEastMovement

Wes Matthews is who he is partly because of both Crean and Buzz. However, I would give more credit to Buzz. Bo's style does allow players to be successful in the NBA. When was the last time, a Badger has been successful in the big leagues. The last time I ever heard a badger who was successful was Michael Finley!

Didn't Devin Harris go to UW?

Totally forgot about Harris but I think Harris is overrated.

Who is this ChuckSchwartz character?  If he is anyone of any significance it's kind of ridiculous that he's baiting Wes into a UW MU debate.

Chuck should ask Devin Harris or Marcus Landry ...   ;)

WellsstreetWanderer

Lame Question- love Wes' unprtentious response. He is a grounded dude not some pompous Bucky twit.

g0lden3agle

I like the sequence of Chuck saying Wes's just some dude, Wes saying he's ok with just being some dude, and Chuck stepping down from that claim.  The whole thing smells heavily of troll.

Can't think of a new story to write?  Goad a pro player and MU grad into saying something bad.  Backfires?  Cover your ass quick.

some dude with $34 million...sign me up.

Wes work ethic, playing in the BEast, playing with DJ, Mcneal and style of play at MU and in the BEast, work benefits for Wes to accomplish what he has. Additionally Buzz helped push him to the next level.  Now why would he care if he was a legend when he is now a successful NBA player. He would have been a Spain or Europe legend without playing the style he did.

77ncaachamps

He obviously wasn't referring to the legendary players Wisconsin produces because he tweeted a legendary Marquette one.

Must be tough, being Wes.  Still, I admire him for putting on a brave front.   ::)
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

Lennys Tap

Let's see. The highest paid second/third year player in the NBA vs hangin' out in the Madison bars reminiscing about all the fun he had playin' in the swing and wearin' the red and white. Tough call.

cheebs09

Funny Badger-related news. Ian Markolf who left the team because he didn't like basketball anymore and the scholarship went to Ben Brust shortly after is transferring to a D-2 school in Texas. So I think Badger fans can stop the charade that Bo didn't give him some sort of nudge in the direction of quitting for a player that they need.

Hmm.  Maybe he didn't lose his desire for the game after all.   Maybe he got cross-Bo'd.

MerrittsMustache

The fact that Tosa's own Devin Harris was forgotten by a poster tells us all we need to know about what type of legend Wes could have been had he been a Badger.

MUDPT

Lived in Madison two months and have already heard that MU pays players from two different people.  Just the way it is here.

TheFarEastMovement

@MerritsMustache: Then again Wes succeeded because he was a Warrior and he would have not been close to being what he is, had he been a badger.

TheFarEastMovement

@MerritsMustache. Also, the fact that Devin Harris was forgotten as a Badger just shows how Wes Matthew would have been forgotten as well.

MuMark

Wes is one of the better NBA players the state has produced and had a great career at MU.

He is a legend in the state....this guy is just too stupid to realize it......

Great response by Wes though.......he got to be where he is today by thinking he was just an ordinary guy who had to outwork everyone to reach his goal.

Mission accomplished.
