$12,500 fee to attend the camp.  You got to be kidding me.

My big question is since when has Buzz looked that thin?

bilsu

He looked thinner at the pro am than he did during the season. I commented to my wife that his suits must make him look heavier.

TedBaxter

There was an article at some point this summer that said Buzz dropped some weight since the season ended.

My question is if Buzz and Crean will even talk this weekend.  Crean's burned more bridges in the past than General Patton.

My understanding is Buzz and Crean are good friends.  Buzz has repeatedly said they talk almost everyday.  By all accounts, Crean would have taken Buzz to IU but Buzz chose to stay behind and lobby for the MU job.

The better question might be who is going to pay for dinner.

That's why it's called a fantasy camp.

Crean put out some nice tweets about his team at the camp and their MU connections.

Apparently Wade let's all kinds of trash appear at his camp.

Where did you hear this?  I haven't heard Buzz or Crean acknowledge each other in a public setting, so I'm wondering.

Crean took some veiled shots at Buzz and his assistants on Twitter a year or so ago during the Branden Dawson recruiting and ever since then, I haven't seen one Crean tweet with a Marquette mention other than the players he coached at Marquette.

Can you imagine a camper saying, "Awww man. I got this guy Buzz Williams. I wanted Chris Mullin or Mike Fratello!" lol

Not true.  Crean was going after Chris Mack and his lead recruiter (Travis Steele with Indiana roots) at Xavier and their negative recruiting. This was the "he woke up on 3rd base" reference after Miller left. Goes back to Tu transferring and X's in-roads to I4 since.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Crean took a shot at MU, and Buzz hates him.

Dr. Blackheart

Since the Dawson recruitment was mentioned, which Crean really never was a player in the end since it was a Nike connection.  MU had a chance because his grandma lives in Milwaukee, but MSU fans spread some manure at the time as how could a young head coach take on the great Izzo.  Here is the whole story of Izzo's NCAA suspension related to a secondary violation during the Dawson recruitment that came out this summer on the MSU site.

Well, you could be right, but how come there was a Broeker tweet right after that came out saying something to the effect, "Let's schedule a game instead of fighting on twitter"?

Was Crean talking about Xavier, Marquette or another school?  Who knows for sure?  Indiana articles originally said it was about Thad Matta, but then the waking up on third base reference could have been about Buzz as well if Crean didn't think he was given enough credit for MU's appearances in the NCAA when he was in Bloomington.

Maybe Broeker's too old to fully understand the internet?

The Lens

I think he was trashing Matt Painter.  TC has said on a number of occasions (I've seen Kravitz reference it in the Star) that Painter had a great and almost unfair advantage being able to sit for a year next to Gene, learn the HS coaches etc.

It seems that Buzz loses weight in the off-season and then packs it back on during the year.
I'm like a turtle, sometimes I get run over by a semi.

MUDPT

Crean being mad at Painter is ridiculous.  I want to say Painter's third season he was playing 84% of minutes with 1st or 2nd year players and finished 2nd in the Big Ten.  I'm not saying Crean failed/ is failing/ deserves to be fired, but his biggest rival did pretty well with all of the same excuses that have been used for Crean.

You guys can believe whatever you want. But know that X recruited Dee Davis right out of Bloomington HS for 2011 when CTC was struggling, then and secured Chandler out of Indy before his issues...on top of Tu moving along with Crawford.  This was before the Zoller commit and when McLeod was screwing up at IU. Remember, Crean was "recruiting Holloway for MU" the week before he split to I4. Steele was at Indiana under Sampson, and moved to X when CTC came on.  Was associated with Spiece and Elite prior to that. Sound like the makings of a shot across the bow?

Edited to add that Steele also snagged James Farr vs. Crean from Chicago in April 2011 was was supposed to be a late 2011 signee but reclassified to 2012.

I'm not saying you're wrong at all since most of my speculation surrounded Broeker's tweet.

I'd have to speculate this thread is tearing him apart - not being able to comment, and add his 2 cents.  Highly unlikely someone goes from posting about 10 posts per day to never reading the board again.

Whatever the case, I think the relationship between Buzz and Crean has cooled since their time together at MU, though its got to gnaw at TC that Buzz has been invited to be a coach at Wade's Fantasy Camp.  Possibly even a tough position for Wade to be in - as there are two loyalties (potentially opposed now) - in his former coach TC, and his alma mater, MU/Buzz.

Ners, you have no idea what their relationship is now and all you are doing is letting your bias do your speculating for you.

Buzz doesn't seem the type to let any relationship cool.  They have been important to him as he began and developed his career...and has used them often.

Why would Buzz being at Wade's camp "gnaw at TC"?

Am I missing something?

Guess what Sultan - speculate is about all anyone this board does.  When I say "I think," that doesn't mean, "I know," so what is your point in saying I have no idea what their relationship is now??  Duh.  I don't - which is why I said I think.  I've not heard Buzz reference TC in over 2 years - the 3rd base comment came out - whether directed at Painter, Chris Mack, or Buzz - Broeker tweeted something about it..and Broeker and Buzz are close...
