He gets paid about 1/3 of what Crean makes, but you never hear him as a candidate to cash in.  I bet he would go to NJ area (Villanova) when Jay Wright leaves.

Isn't Jay Wright about 25 years younger than Bo?

marqfan22

Wright will be in the NBA soon.

Where do you figure he gets paid 1/3 of what Crean does?

According to the USA Today he made $1,062,958 this past season PLUS was eligible for a $262,500 bonus for getting into the NCAA tournament for a nice tidy sum of $1,325,458.  Meanwhile Crean was paid $1,688,487.

That doesn't even factor in the FAT FAT FAT pension that Bo will receive as well, which more than covers the difference between what the two are paid.

I remember the JS reporting that BO made about 400K

I remember the JS reporting that BO made about 700K, so that's more like half

Here's the link of his latest salary

The JS is flat wrong.

In fact, here is Bo-ring's contract for you in all it's splendid detail

I am so tired of the BO pension explination of why he would never take another job.  Fact is if he left the state of WI employment tomorrow he still would get a good pension based on his years of service and earnings, it would be less of a payout then if he worked until 65 but what he has earned up to today does not go away.

Given the lofty sums of money, bonuses that are paid to major coaches today I am sure that if some University wanted Bo bad enough they would come up with a way of bridging the pension issue which wouldn't be much different than many of the lump sum payments Izzo and others receive for being employed 5, 10 years etc.  Of course Bo would also have to want another job which doesn't seem the case.

Agree entirely.  I think he gets the top 3 years of his salary as a pension....I don't know why people use it as an argument that he wouldn't leave.  He's vested, he's going to get it.

I stand corected.

I just don't see why his name is never brought up. I know he coached at plattville, but it's not like he grew up in madison. he should be on the rumor mill too....unless nobody wants him.

Chico's

Obviously you and I agree on the pension thing but why does it seem so hard for others to see the facts of the matter, I wish I had a nickel for ever time I read on the UW-M board that Bo isn't leaving because of his pension.  My personal opinion is Bo is happy a t UW-M and that is why his name is never mentioned, beleive a lot of the flaoting of names comes directly from the coaches or their agents.

Nukem2

I think Bo is a little old (59 or 60) to be considered anew for a high profile job.  I think he'll just stay where he is until they drag him out.  He's just an old fashioned coach who is happy where he is.

Call me a communist, but there is something just not right about the fact that Bo Ryan's contract can be posted on a website (signatures and all).

DoubleMU0609

If I understand correctly we can all see he contract because he is a state employee and technically the taxpayers of WI are paying his salary.  It's the same thing as seeing how much the governor makes.

MUEng92

I know.  That's why I assumed people would think I was a communist.

I am sure there are a million reasons why you should be able to see the contract, but it just doesn't seem right.
