We are apparently now expressing interest in the 7'0", 215lb Center.  Raw, but very athletic and long...

How is it we have not offerred this guy? 7 foot and athletic, is he too tall for us?

Honestly, he doesn't look that bad... pretty smooth, especially for a real big guy.  Obviously, could use some bulk, but watching him move was pretty surprising.  Elevates well on his jumper and it doesn't take forever to set up.

I really LOATHE dunk videos, and i know this had some...   I know its a highlight video, but he has pretty good form.

Mbao 2.0

completely disagree.

But he does look like he is 30.

brewcity77

I'd be happy with him as a last resort, but I wouldn't want to oversign for him. I have no problem giving an Otule, McMorrow, Mbao, or Gardner type a shot, but definitely as a second option to a Cleare or Auguste.

Mbao 2.0

No.  Mbao scored ONE basket in a YEAR of PRACTICE.  You don't think this kid would be able to score more than 4 points in a full year of practice?  Keep in mind, Mbao had to be shown what to do when guarding an inbounder trying to throw the ball the full length of the court at the end of a game.  I don't think this kid would have that problem.

Edit: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/72068/blaise-mbargorba
He's a top 100, 7 footer.  #18 center in the country.  There is no comparison to Mbao in terms of basketball ability/talent.

You can also look at the schools that are interested and have offered and you can see he has some high majors interested in him, unlike Mbao.  Cinci, Seton Hall, Vandy, Va Tech, and West Va have all offered.  Marquette, Georgetown, Maryland, Providence, and UConn are all showing interest.

He may not be the top priority for a big that I would want, but I also wouldn't say he is a "last resort."  He looks good to me.

He has that old school touch. You know, the "drop-it-in-the-basket" instead of "dunk-it-emphatically" touch.

Interesting music, btw.

Ever see a 7 footer work out? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br7YZAK3WYg

I wasn't totally serious, but I'll let you guys get excited.

I mean, I understand what you are saying... 7 footers don't just fly under the radar if they have talent.

Wade for President

Although his first name is awesome, I would take a pass on him based on the music in this video alone.

I think he would be a nice project.  We need a center in the 2012 class.  We don't seem to be about to land a top 10 center prospect so a project is probably necessary.  He could turn out pretty good, perhaps as good as Otule.

tower912

Grab him, red-shirt him, give him a year with Todd, oversign with a PG for the inevitable transfer.    Sounds like a plan.

In what way is Mgargorba not awesome? I wouldn't even begin to know how to pronounce it, but it's fantastic  8-)

wyzgy

the playa has a good body on him already.  another 25-30lbs and he's a man-child.  pretty good form.  i believe he'll be better than average and you'll see him for 4 years(plus one if red-shirt)  the rastafarian music needs to go.  how about yanni instead ;D

They're not going to redshirt him...but otherwise I agree...

Not to nitpick, but its spelled Mbargorba.  As in Mbakwe, Mbao.  We haven't had the best luck with guys with MBAs (rimshot).

brewcity77

We've formally offered Mbargorba.
