Hicks has scholarship offers from Indiana and Cincinnati and last week added Western Kentucky, Wright State and Southern Indiana to that last.

Other schools showing interest include Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Wake Forest, Xavier, Marquette and Florida.

ESPN grade of 88, 2 star:http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/103672/darryl-hicks

Interesting that he's graded/rated so low, but being recruited by Cincy and II,II

Not that odd this time of year. Quite a few guys are able to drastically improve their stock after the summer AAU events. A guy can easily go from being a 2-3 star prospect to a 4-star with a good summer. There's also this, possibly he suffered an injury a little while back?

Quote from: Darryl Hicks"In spring ball I thought I was getting it back, and I really didn't," he said. "In July I felt like I actually got my legs back and I was playing like I should. It's been a lot of fun for me to get back out there and play."

After googling Hicks, it seems that he's been on Kentucky's radar as well since he was a high school freshman. Rivals and Scout have him as a 3-star. I'd guess maybe ESPN just has him rated a bit lower than the others and a good summer is probably going to push his rating up. When they redo the ratings, Hicks is probably a high-3 or a 4-star.

That said, the college interest seems to make him a worthwhile target. He's also got an offer from Arizona and Scout lists interest from Ohio State, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, and Florida. He's definitely getting high major looks.

You also need to remember that schools like UK, tOSU, UNC, Duke etc need guys that will be four year players. Their whole rosters will not be comprised of 4 and 5 star recruits.

It's a nice place to be when you can round out your roster with guys like Hicks.
