DJO's Pump Fake

Let's put all the stupid talk to rest and focus on Jimmy's Draft Night.

I love Jimmy Butler as much as the next guy, but if he gets drafted I'll eat my shoe.

I believe I still have a shoe to eat if Jimmy gets drafted.

Can we get a live feed on this?

I'll bite.  How about a prediction thread in this.

I say #33 to Detroit.

DJO's Pump Fake

I have been thinking number 31 to Miami all week.

They are a team in need of a multiple position defender and guy who can come in and know his role.

Jimmy would fit well on that team.

I'm honestly thinking that he's not gonna get past the Celtics at #25.

bobnoxious

He might get past Boston but I don't see him getting past the bulls

NavinRJohnson

Agree with the last two, put me down as saying he'll go in the first round, most likely to either Chicago (with two late picks), or Boston (pending any significant trades of course). Just seems to be too much good feeling surrounding him, not unlike Hayward last year. At that point in the draft, personality, work ethic, etc., can make a huge impact. After the past few years, having "Marquette" after your name is gonna move you up, not down.

In Chad Ford's latest (final?) mock draft this morning, he lists Jimmy as being considered by Houston at #23 and OKC at #24 and selected by Boston at #25.

Guaranteed contract on a contender that gets a lot of national publicity. I'm in favor.

Analysis: If the Celtics are going to keep competing for a title, they need players who know their roles, can play without the ball in their hands and meld in. Butler brings toughness, defense and heart.

Butler epitomizes that approach with his game and would be a great fit with the Celtics as a player who can play multiple positions off the bench. Reggie Jackson is another strong possibility here, as is Norris Cole.

Ford has Butler now ranked #27 overall among prospects. http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft/results/top100/_/year/2011/set/1

Skatastrophy

I hope he goes to play for Doc in Boston.

I have a feeling he's going to fall to the Bulls though.  I think the Bulls are hoping the same thing.

Wow has there been a bigger rise of a player in recent memory?

From undrafted most of the season to 25th overall in mock drafts?  This is awesome for Jimmy and well deserved.

groove

nuggets could take him at 22

Lazar Hayward? A quick review of the final mock drafts for last year's draft had him solidly in the second half of the second round. No one expected guaranteed 1st round money.

Further, I can't recall him being even talked about as a serious potential draft choice going into his senior year, but my memory fails me. I found one "early 2010 mock draft" from before Lazar's senior year. His name was notably absent, although admittedly, the list only included 30 players.

Regardless of how unusual, or usual, Butler's rise has been, it sure is exciting to see unfold. I really hope he gets that first round money.

Paul George last year climbed from nowhere all the way to 10.....I predicted a shot up the charts for Jimmy because he has a lot in common with why George's stock skyrocketed.

Ari Gold

I'd love to see Jimmy playin with D-Wade

He's being helped greatly by what most experts are calling a weak draft. Listened to Bilas this morning on the Herd then got a far better draft analysis by Donnie Nelson of the Mavs on the local ESPN affiliate. He said that most people are drawing a line after #2, then another somewhere around 13/14 and another in the 23/24 area as far as rating players....said that many may end up taking European players and leaving them in Europe for a year or two if the specific player they want isn't on the board any more...said that hasn't happened in a while because other drafts have had more depth.

This seems to work out really well for JFB. Keeping fingers crossed.

USA today has him going #30 to the Bulls. tout his defense and basketball IQ

In Chad Ford's Draft V7.0 from this morning, he has JFB going to Boston at #25.

Edit: I just checked the second round, and Ford has Jon Leuer going to Chicago at #43.

Miami is my hope
Then any western conference team because I really have a hard time rooting for Boston / Chicago
Denver would be nice as I could go see him play!

4everwarriors

Doc is tight with Crean, DWade wears IU shorts and therefore, with the 25th selection in the 2011 NBA Draft, the Boston Celtics select.....Jimmy Butler of Marquette University.

Im starting to get pumped. I only root for players team in the NBA so I really hope Jimmy goes somewhere good. I hate LeBron so I didnt want Heat to win, but if its Wade AND Jimmy. LETS GO HEAT.

I hope he goes to Celtics though and have heard they really like him. Bulls would be awesome too. Thunder as well. Basically anything late 1st round ha.

Blazers have discussed getting Tony Parker.

A Jimmy Butler Celts/Bulls/Heat vs A Wesley Matthews Blazers? Epic Finals IMO :DDDDDD
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

tower912

Buzz using him to, and him being able to guard Brooks and then Holloday (sp?) in high visibility games helped him immensely.    Showing him able to guard 5 positions in college and 3-4 in the pros is huge.   Bruce Bowen comes to mind.    Plus, with his backstory and exhibited character, he will probably be drafted higher than his pure numbers dictate.     A great night for Jimmy, and a good night for Buzz and the MU hoop program.    Buzz gets all of the coaching credit for developing this one.

Please not to the Heat.  Would be such a letdown to see Jimmy go there.
