SIU should protest the outcome of that game
« on: March 23, 2007, 09:05:50 AM »
To be honest, I have never seen officiating that was more unfair to a team in my life.

1. Julian Wright Dunks the ball a second after the shotclock goes off and they count it

2. KU player hangs on the rim during a SIU shot and they dont count it

3. SIU player skims the rim with time off the shot clock and as his shot is rebounded and about to get put back by his teammate they call a shot clock violation

I just cant believe that Chris Lowry didnt go Ape-crap during each call.

agreed, but he may not have seen it as well as we do in hi-def, slo-mo, instant replay, or, he may realize there's little he can do but 'go ape-crap'.

What about all of the non-calls on SIU
« Reply #2 on: March 23, 2007, 09:38:09 AM »
SIU is a nice team, but they could have called for more than 1 foul on almost every time KU was on offense.  The pushes, elbows, shoulders hand checks, blocking fouls and shooting fouls were far too numerous to count!  A different set of refs and this is an entirely different game.

It is the oddest Defense I have seen

I was thinking that it was like UAB during the Mike Anderson era.  But UAB was more about playing the passing lanes, and was a true Man-2-Man full court Press.

It is also alot like St. Josephs Defense during the 2003-2004 year that was swarming, but once again they were more of a half court man-2-man with Chest to Chest Defense

SIU was a hybrid of those two.  It put some light pressure on in the back court than ran some weird half court trap.

All I know is that those player have got to be in the best shape out of any team in D-1!

The more I think about it SIU only has their self to blame when they botched that layup and tip in attempt that would have tied the game
