Author: You are currently in your second year as Director of Basketball Operations at Marquette. How do you like the job, and what do you hope to do in the future?

Lundy: I love it here.  The resources/commitment are unlike anything I have ever seen, from the way we travel to the way we work.  Coach Buzz Williams has an enormous work ethic and is a really great coach.  I do not know where it will go from here; in this profession you just see what comes your way.

Lundy seems to be a pretty well kept secret. Why is he a DOB considering he background in recruiting ?

GGGG

He was fired at High Point after going 9-21 in 2009.  His teams got worse the longer he was there which IMO calls into question his reputation as a recruiter.

Galway03

I understand what your saying but our(MU) record was worse last year than the year before so does that mean Buzz is a bad recruiter. I don't think thats the case. Lundy had 1 poor year at high point. I will do some research, see what I can find, and get back later.

Bart Lundy is a good porn star name.

Name reminds me me of Bert Macklin, FBI!

I was framed for a crime I didn't commit.  The stealing...of the presidents rubies.

From what I can gather, the main reason Bart Lundy was fired was because High Point hired a new AD the year before and I think more than anything, the AD wanted to start from scratch and used the down year with youth and injuries to get rid of Bart and bring in his own guy.

Yes, High Point was 9-21 in Bart Lundy's last year and Scott Cherry came in and they went to 15-15 the next year with a winnin record in conference action, but at the very least, the teams 3 leading scorers were holdovers.  This year they went 12-19 and still had junior Nick Barbour as their leading scorer and Barbour was a Lundy recruit.  They've lost guys like Eugene Harris, Cruz Daniels, David Singleton and Steadman Short from Lundy's teams and they felt it this year.

Lundy's career has been pretty good and his last year at High Point he apparently had the youngest D1 team in America. There certainly are no issues with recruiting as he has had a lot of players with good individual accomplishments. Most of the HPU records belong to Lundy. The 05 thru 08 teams were very good and had there not been injuries to key players he may well have won the conference at least 2 of those 3 years. All in all he is bound to be a great asset to Buzz and I guess that Buzz has him where he wants him. I still wonder why he is not used in recruiting as it seems to me that he could bring a lot of experience to that area.

I happened to live in HP NC when he was a coach there.  It's a tough job - considering the proximity to so many good basketball programs, small and large - that breeds good coaches.  High Point U is not even well known in High Point, unless one wishes to design or sell furniture.

Bart Lundy isn't one of the 3 full time assistants (Benford, Collins and Monarch) at this time so he can't travel any distance to watch players and basically isn't able to recruit by NCAA guidelines.
