Initial Signing Date   Final Signing Date
Early Period   November 11, 2010   November 17, 2010
Regular Period   April 13, 2011   May 18, 2011

So we find out within the next 48 hours about the two open slots...correct?

It's been said a lot here lately, but I think that just means players can't sign the National letter of intent after that date, but they scan still commit whenever, all the way up to later in the summer of course.  I'd be kind of surprised if we signed one in the next two days.

need to look at when summer classes start and that will be closer to dates of players picking MU

Actually, they can commit all the way until the fall semester begins.  Or in the case of Niv Berkowitz, after that.

They would not be able to sign a NLI.  They could, however, sign an aid package, ala Brandon Knight.

No, not correct.
The portal is NOT closed.
