I really don't think we would have to worry about Buzz going to A&M if Maryland gets Turgeon.

I concur.  Actually, the timing might be perfect from MU's perspective - though, I never thought that he would leave MU for A&M.

If we ever need to worry, it is not A&M.  It is the University of Texas that could hookem.

You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

I don't see A&M as being any more appealing to Buzz than Oklahoma.

I am done worrying about this.   MU has done all it can to keep him.   Buzz has never shown anything but a commitment to MU.   Circumstances may change, but life is too short to worry about every other coaching change.  He stays or he goes.    But I am going to take him at his word ("I'm going to stay at Marquette as long as they'll have me......Marquette's mission matches up perfectly with my values....trying to teach these kids more than the game of basketball.....yadayadayada)  and see how that goes.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

I would almost rather see that A&M job open up so Buzz can turn it down.  It creates even more certainty that Buzz will be at MU.

Also, how much is A&M willing to pay for a basketball coach?  Turgeon is reportedly around $1.5M and our old friend Mike Sherman is getting around $1.8M.  I doubt they're willing to pay over $2M for Buzz.

Did Sherman bring his old his coaching buddy Tom Rossley over with him to Texas A&M? What a stellar play-calling duo. Of course, it would have helped if either of them ever raised their voice to Favre after any one of his back-foot, rainmaker interceptions.

Also, anyone know how many punters Texas A&M has on scholarship?

A&M has nearly UT type money, more than Oklahoma, but does not have the rep for buying coaches, like OU, ....as at AM, they look also for the "fit" to Aggie culture---which Mike Sherman meets nicely. BTW, so does Buzz.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Norm

It would not surprise me in the least if Buzz considered Texas A&M if that job opened up. He could build that program and flourish with all the talent that is down in Texas right now.

Blackhat

Have no doubt Buzz and family fit well into Aggie (and t sip) culture much better than Milw.  Don't know how much Dolla Bill would want to throw at a b-ball coach.  Support for basketball is pathetic at A&M one of the things Gillispie didn't like while there and Buzz saw it first hand.

I'm not too worried about A&M, again depends on how much he wants to get back to Texas.  Cause we can match or exceed them for money and talent is here as well (Chicago, etc.), good recruiters adapt.   Better program support.

Agreed. A&M is quite unlikely to even match the $ MU is now to pay Buzz, much less offer more. Its an ideal time for the A&M job to open(assuming Turgeon bolts to Md.), and be filled, withe someone else, as Buzz is a very unlikely target, based on $ issues.
