Dr. Blackheart

MU tapping the NBA gene pool lately...

* The NCAA recruiting calendar prohibits college coaches from attending the EYBL's Hampton session, but Hampton University assistant Harvey Grant is an exception to the rule.

That's because his son Jerami, a 6-7 junior forward at DeMatha High in Hyattsville, Md., is here competing for Washington-based Team Takeover.

Harvey played at Clemson, as does his son Jerai. And Jerami?

"We'll see," Harvey said. "They're recruiting him."

As are Virginia Tech, Virginia, Notre Dame, Marquette, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

Harvey Grant said Jerami, who averaged 10 points and 4.3 rebounds in Team Takeover's first three victories here, likely will select a school later this summer to remove some stress from his senior season.

Jerami is much thinner than his dad, and Uncle Horace for that matter. He projects as a small forward but needs to enhance his perimeter skills.
