Juan makes top 100

Juan was 100 on ESPN's top 100. He is not pleased with that that, and is going to come in with a chip on his shoulder, He tweeted earlier "I dont care about rankings, they don't mean anything. I will bust alot of these "top25" guys. But at the same time I feel disrespected. 100?"

Also I saw Mike Shaw at 88... I may be wrong, but when we were on him wasn't he alot higher than that???

All college basketball players talk like him. Reading some of their twitter pages makes it so I am all about how they play only a couple of the players merit my respect off the floor. It is what it is, but I agree he sounds a bit cocky, but hopefully he uses that to push himself instead of just assuming he will be a superstar. With Buzz he will be riding pine after a missed defensive assignment...Buzz pushes freshman hard in practice, and their reward comes with playing time. If Juan wants to make something of himself next year he will have to work his butt off, otherwise hell just get little minutes like Jamail this year

Juan is a very good recruit for MU.  He will spend next year adjusting to the college game and environment.  Anyone expecting anything major from Juan next year is living in a dream world.  Juan is a good player and recruit but he will get his limited off of the bench minutes similar to most Frosh and he'll be a much bigger factor as an upper classman.  Good recruit.

No but he hustled played solid D, and gave DJO a rest when he needed it...I think Vander played like a freshman. If Vander develops a jumper with his driving ability he will be a beast

Without his energy off the bench in the 2nd half against USF and his all-around contributions against UConn, we lose both of those games, miss the tournament and the sweet 16 never would have happened.

I think I saw an ESPN piece on how few McDonalds AAs come from calif., how they tend to named by the "name" school they choose, and  and how he ,Juan, is a current example...ie if he came from East coast and signed with, say a UNC...he'd be one. There seems to be many who see him as underrated---I hope they're right.

Cali actually has had more McDonald AAs than anyone, 82 since the game began and 28 since 2002. But that seems to be a function of the population. Per capita, California ranks well behind Virginia, Indiana, Maryland, Illinois, Mississippi and many other states.

After watching his senior highlights I think he is going to be FAR better than 100!   If he plays small forward,  he will have some superior skills at that position with his guard abilities.  His amazing court vision translates to every level of basketball.  He may not be able to do all the trick passes in the BEast,  but I am sure he is going to get some real nice assists. I think he will be a superstar provided he works hard.  So many players don't even realize that the best NBA guys busted their ass to get where they are. Potential means nothing if you don't work towards it....and MU makes guys work hard!  The culture at MU really pushes the guys to become better.

MU is "due" for a great Freshman year.  If Juan is able to be one of the better shooters on the team,  he should get a lot of minutes.  Even if he is only an average shooter he should see a lot,  as he should be a very good defender at the 3.  His tremendous combo of length and athleticism will enable him to learn on the job.....he has been described as a potential lockdown. With the way he can see the floor on offense and anticipate what guys are going to do,  I am thinking he has the aptitude to do the same on defense.  He looks to have a great BB IQ and that would be the ultimate X factor for a guy with his abilities.

I'll go on record and say he will end up better than 75% on the top 100.

Something about Anderson leads me to agree with this. I don't know if he'll see a lot of minutes his freshman year, but I believe he will be an early entry guy by his junior year at the latest. I don't know what it is about his game, but every time I see him, he seems to ooze star quality. Of all the guys on our current roster and incoming over the next 2 years, something tells me he will end up being the best of the bunch.

I could end up completely off-base on this, maybe he turns out to be an average player, a bust, or transfers after his sophomore year because he can't get minutes, but as of right now, he seems like a special kid. I expect him to play a big role in putting Marquette right back on the college basketball map in the next 2-3 years.
