Excellent news for both Wilson and us. I've read NERR before and it seems to be pretty reliable. I think it really bodes well that he's listed there. Here's hoping that he's at least ready to give us 5-15 minutes per game as a freshman, I'm sure Cadougan will need a few breaks here and there.

He will need a few breaks and it will be nice to have another bigger body at PG who can take on the physicality of the BE.

By the end of the season, Buycks' confidence and effectiveness were gone.  This was Cadougan's team late, he earned the lead guard slot. I was a pessimist on this earlier in the season, but let's face it -- Wilson is likely to be an upgrade relative to DB's late season performances.

When you think about it, heading into next season MU is only losing one major contributor in Butler.

Agreed. I don't know what happened to Buycks, it seemed like as soon as he really hit his stride, he instantly lost it. I can understand the bell curve, but that was like a bell cliff. Too bad, he really looked good in January and early February. Still, he did a great job of bridging the gap, even if only for the first 2/3 of the season. Junior wasn't ready in December and January, and Buycks' good play then helped us stay above water. Still, we will be better off next year than we were this year, I really believe that.

The turning point seemed to be when he got stuffed on that 3pt attempt in the Syracuse game at the Bradley Center.

Buycks was a nice player for Marquette.  He played out of position for us at PG and did overall a nice job.  We went to the Sweet 16 with his help.

We came off having Diener and James, two fan-favorite PGs, to needing to the gap.  Acker and Buycks did a great job.

Now, Junior looks fully healed and understands how to play.  We look set at PG for the next two years and Derrick Wilson will hopefully come in and do a nice job.

Hopefully, we will get some certainty on Buzz and we can get an NBA caliber PG in 2013 to come in here.  Buzz has proven himself now, and hopefully his recruiting will get better.

Do you wait till the 2013 season to bring in a top flight PG? Most top flight PG will want immediate PT, especially if they are going to a non-top 10 school. The other option would be to bring in another Derrick Wison type rated for 2012 and hope that person or Derrick will pan out.

We did that and got arguably the 5th best pg in 2009 I believe, but its not really going to completely payoff till next year.

Junior will be a senior when the 2012 class comes in.  I figured an NBA caliber PG would not want to sit behind Junior.  Of course you take an NBA caliber player.  But, Buzz needs another project big at some point in 2011 and 2012 too.

Hoops, you are forgetting about the topic of this blog.  We have Derrick Wilson coming on board this year.  He is a great talent to have at point guard for the next four years!!!
