It's always nice to get some recognition in Chicago.  We have a decent alumni base there, but are the third Big East team in Chicago's hearts after DePaul and Notre Dame.  And all Big East takes a back seat to the Big 10/11/12 there.

Chicago as a college sports town sucks. Too many schools. People from all over. Not one school to call their own. Bandwagon golden domers. Etc.

I think that makes it fun.  Every game is big because someone cares about it in the city.  Big Ten football on a Saturday is a great atmosphere.

If DePaul ever did anything, the city would get behind them I think.

Niv Berkowitz, your posts here are consistently among the smartest and best written. Your usage of the language and the facts -- devoid of emotion, banal taunting and empty sarcasm -- make for terrific reading.

As a fan of your "work," I am surprised by your assault on Chicago. As a college sports town, Chicago "sucks"? Sucks?

Too many people, who are from all over?

No one school to call its own?

Niv, let us celebrate the breadth and the diversity that are Chicago, including those brainwashed, insufferable Golden Domers and their empty-headed bandwagoners.

ChicagoAll cities bigger than Milwaukee suck as college sports towns. Too many schools. People from all over. Not one school to call their own. Bandwagon golden domers. Etc.

That is what you mean right?

How lame.  Oh no! there are people from all over!

Yeah... I think it's awesome.  As long as my team is not the opposing team, it's fun.  I have friends from almost every big ten school so they always throw game watch parties that are fun to go to.

And in general, I think it promotes school spirit a bit.  On Saturdays during the fall, since there are always people sporting their school, people feel compelled to represent their school.  You see alot of gear on football weekends, which is fun.

ErickJD08, you really know people -- whom you consider to be your friends -- who are "from" almost every Big Ten university? All 11? Nebraska, too?

I find that almost impossible to believe. Or maybe I just need to get out more and meet more people from all over the country.
