What I mean by that is that we are now playing the Blue blood North Carolina with the Uniform, and the history.  Can our players get passed that??

I sure hope so!!

MU B2002

What is a "blood blood"?

Not worried.
Didn't seem to bother us against Duke, the defending national champs.  And yes I realize we lost the game, but I never felt we were overwhelmed by the mystique of Duke.

UMMM... do you realize we play in the big east... Lousville, UCONN, Syracuse, and Pittsburgh are just some of the historic programs.  There should be no sticker shock or what ever...This team has competed against some of the best talent and best programs...

I actually thought in the first 5 minutes of the Kentucky Regional Final we were in a little bit of "sticker shock" as you put it. I think the biggest contribution (among many) that Robert Jackson made that season was that he made some big plays in the first few minutes...having played Kentucky in a previous life...and our guys came to understand we were as good or better than Kentucky.

With that said, I think somebody like DJO, who I believe is from NC, won't be overwhelmed but they could be a little too jacked up. It won't last. Things will calm down. I think the Tar Heels are in for a battle royale.

But Carolina has argyles on their uniforms.  Argyles!!

This.  We play the best, and we now expect to beat the best.

Also, I hope we come out in the valour blues.

Hopefully we have lots of MU fans and BEAST Brethren cheering us on.  The announcers for the Syracuse game said the Orange had a lot of fans there, but everyone else (other schools fans) were for Marquette cheering them on.

The Bobcat arena for UNC against Washington in Charlotte was empty.  That was not more then 15 minutes for many UNC alumni.

None of those programs have nearly the panache that North Carolina has.  North Carolina I would argue has more mystique than any school besides Kentucky

I guess, if you don't count Duke.

But I do.

I think we'll know within few minutes if MU can play with them.  Against Xavier, it didn't take long to see the Musketeers were no powerhouse and MU should be in the ballgame.

It will be immediately apparent if UNC's length is going to be too much.

Expect a big contingent from  UNC.  They will make the trip.

Right, because Marquette has clearly been awestruck the past 3 times they've faced Kentucky.

[Mu]EngiNerd

well look at it this way... there are 3 huge state schools there... Kentucky, Ohio State and UNC so all of them will be fighting for the same tickets and they all have huge followings

Which school do you think Ohio State and Kentucky will be rooting for in the Marquette vs UNC game?

Kenosha- You pushed three threads as to your pessism that MU would not make the field of 64, and now this one.
Did you at least take an hour on Sunday to smile, hoot and holler, in unbridled joy before the dark cloud over you returned--lol?
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Hell yea i did....I am still wearing that stupid grin i had from Sunday at around 9:00PM

Buzz needs to have a private screening of Hoosiers with the team Thursday night.

Then again, I could see how that might backfire if they wound up playing Butler.

Honestly, I don't want the easy road.  This team needs to embrace the role of giant-killer and thrive on the single opportunity that lies before them - that's the only way they can continue to survive.  I'm going to go against conventional wisdom here and say that instead of the tournament becoming more difficult as you continue to win, the tournament gets easier from this point forward.  If somehow they get past UNC, not only is that a huge boost to their confidence, it's also going to be a devastating blow to OSU's... if there was a way to survey the participants over the year, I'm pretty sure that you'd find most #1 seeds would rather play another #1 seed than a giant-killer.

Conversely, I'd feel more comfortable playing UNC than I would playing VCU or Butler right now.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Panache: someone who has a dashing confidence of style, or shows a certain flamboyance and courage.

Don't use words of which you don't know the meaning.  I understand this is a message board, but the grammar, spelling, and misuse of words lately is truly atrocious.

[Mu]EngiNerd

I disagree with that statement benny... UNC is a much tougher match up for them than we are.

UNC's interior size and speed would give them more fits.  We have size issues facing up with Lauderdale and Sullinger.

Hey Steff, this is now your 2nd straight post on grammar and spelling, and I let it slide at first, but now you are getting on my nerves.

This was your last post.
