Top 16 programs in the tournament.  People get a bit off the reservation (sorry, seeing your avatar couldn't help it) when they translate where a team finishes in the tournament to where they are overall.  Don't you think it would be a little strange to say a team that was 9th in it's conference is 16th in the nation? 

The tournament is a separate entity....no one in their right mind is going to say VCU is one of the top 16 programs in the country when many experts didn't think they should have been invited to a tournament of 68 teams.

That being said, I'm enjoying it a ton.  A lot of Big East hatred at work today.  Then Senator Mitch McConnell drops in which was pretty wild.  Weird day.

No..to answer the bolded question...considering UCONN was the Number 9 team in the country with the same 9-9 record as MU (and head to head 1-1).  And judging by the way VCU PUMMLED the Big 10 runner up Purdue who was ranked 13th...I'd have to say VCU is a Top 16 team in the country.

I could care less about regular season results if my team advances to the Sweet 16 each year...

Honestly, after hearing about the KLOVE call this morning. I really am not bothered by any of this useless speculation. Buzz calls up a Christian radio station to thank them for the service they provide? Can anyone imagine that flying at any public university, even in the South?

Marquette took a leap of faith by giving Buzz the reins. Buzz found a place where he fits perfectly after a lifetime of bouncing around from job to job. He will be here as long as we want him. For all the B-S-capades that that go on with other coaches around the country, we have one of the true, genuine coaches that wants to do right by his kids, right by the program, and for whom the only thing more important than the results on the court is the mission that Marquette serves, a mission that Buzz believes in.

I'll say it right now. He's going nowhere. Not this year. Not next year. Not in 5 years. And not in 10. Buzz will either be fired or he will retire from Marquette. Maybe we're not everyone's dream job, maybe for some Marquette isn't the "destination", but for Buzz, it is.

Marquette took a leap of faith when it hired Buzz. It's about damn time that the rest of us show some faith in him too.

I hope you are correct but think you have some wishful thinking. I did hear from two sources that Buzz does have some complaints with MU/city and they are real concerns. Not stirring the pot here and not saying that trouble is brewing. Just saying that Buzz has been great the last week and said and done a lot great things.

I'll see what I can do 84 - and I don't rip everything the guy writes...and I don't care about I4 or Tom Crean.  All that pisses me off about the guy is his double standards whereby he defends the hell out of Tom Crean...and doesn't afford the coach of our team the same grace/latitude/respect.  Go look at one of my first posts on Scoop...I talked about how people needed to have some gratitude for TC and the job he did..I still believe that...but after reading Chicos rants/slants against Buzz for the last 2.5 years..and how he gave Crean passes for everything and largely discredited the job Buzz had/has done...it just got REAL old..and thus some of the Buzz vs Crean threads I've gotten involved in..

I'm not starting thread topics here gloating about how right I am as a Buzz Williams fanboy..etc...I'm not trying to discount our Sweet 16 run by saying it is a "seperate season," and that we aren't a Top 16 team this year as a result of this run, etc.  I mean who goes and recycles threads that make them look "right?"  Wait...Chicos does.  Who tries to rain on this years post season with the above garbage?  Chicos.  It is pathetic.  end of rant.
