I hope their team is overlooking us as much as their fans are!

"Z's (I assume Zellers) eyes lit up when Marquette won"

How'd Rick Jackson do against the MU defense?

Anything can happen when a team like us gets confident, and UNC has yet to put a team away all tournament season.  If there is any time I'd like to play a team loaded with the kind of talent UNC has, its now.

Here's a bit of respect from UNC fans:

I don't think Marquette is going to be as easy of a game as some of our fans think, but I would MUCH rather play them than Syracuse and their 2-3 zone. Marquette is very scrappy and their undersized bigs looked physical against Syracuse. However, our road to the Elite Eight and beyond is a tiny bit easier after today.

77ncaachamps

Our uptempo game will be matched easily by theirs.

We have the experience and must play more maturely...force the TOs...draw the fouls...

They keep talking about Plumlee going off on us.  Our post D is infinitely better today than it was then.

HoopsMalone

They are young and overconfident.  They almost lost their first game in the ACC tourney.  Hopefully they will overlook us.

Coleman

Honestly, I don't see much disrespect for us over there.

Most of them saying they are going to have to be ready to play and not to overlook us.

Can't wait

I would urge anyone posting on their forum to work the number "1977" into their post. Special points to whomever finds the most creative way...

If you watched there game today, they were lucky to win.  Defensively you can take the ball anywhere on the court.
Isiah Thomas had free rein today, just did not knock any shots down.  They do not play hard thru ball screens so open
shots are there.  I do not even think they play that hard or for sure physical.  Offensively, they are very talented.  I
think you can muscle Zeller and Henson, both soft but long. Harrison Barnes will be a good match-up for Jimmy.  There
two guards are good particularly Marshall at the point.  It might be a track meet, but I think it might be better to slow
them down.  Washington played them tough so I am sure MU can as well.

I wish they'd forget about 77--- we need not give them any historical incentive for vendetta, nor any bulletin board material.
Its much better to play the 11 seed BE buffoons, aw shucks angle to the hilt---I'd prefer them extremely confident, and looking past us to the OSU/UK winner, as opposed to focused on us and motivated.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Hou -- I think that answer scored you...1977 points...

Hope MU can prove me right.  You can't win a tourney with a team that is centered around freshmen.  They make too many mistakes.  Calipari summed it up in halftime against WV.  He said, I told my kids Mazzula is lefty and he got three left handed layups.

I think "playing ugly" will be even more critical against UNC and we will need to play smarter too.  And after watching that the UNC Wash game, I think we got a serious shot.  UNC is extremely talented and they are REALLY dangerous in the open floor.  But if we make them a jump shooting team and get back on defense, we have a solid shot.

El Duderino

If we were a 28-7 team that's a 2 seed playing an 11 seed who went 20-14, i'd probably feel pretty confident also.

They are a better team than Marquette, but that doesn't automatically mean they'll end up winning.

Morehead St. isn't better than Louisville, but they won that game.

Butler isn't better than Pittsburgh overall, but they won that game.

The better overall team doesn't always win games in a single elimination tournament and hopefully Marquette provides another yet example of this as happens every year in the NCAA Tournament. Unlike college football where computers view of Marquette's body of work in the regular season wouldn't have allowed this opportunity, North Carolina will have to actually beat us first on the court.

MarquetteDano

UNC certainly has more talent, but their biggest out of state win this year was Florida State (#27 in Pomeroy).  Tar Heel fans travel well but the neutral fans in Newark will certainly be partisan towards Marquette.

Time will tell.
