Of course OU wants him.  And they'll be looking at Plan B shortly.

Arkansas was the only real threat, I feel. OU is a bit of a mess right now, while Tennessee seems like the aftermath of Pearl could be even uglier. Buzz will stay.

Really?  I hope you're right, but it seems to me OU is a much more natural fit for Buzz given his background.

OU and MU are both perfect for Buzz.  Hard to say what he will do.

Not from what I have heard.  Arkansas was never really a threat.  OU, on the other hand, may be.  I am doubting more and more that Buzz would leave MU for OU right now.  The proximity to home is one huge unknown.

This. If Corey says she wants to go home, Buzz will go.

Bingo.  I think this is a key and what people are neglecting to talk about.

That is my concern/question.  Hopefully she likes Milwaukee - although that did not matter as much with TC.

NickelDimer

The other thing though I'm sure Corey understands is, going to OU means that might be home for 3 years.

I really wish our paper followed the rumors more closely. This is big thing for all involved and should be newsworthy enough to report. Would be willing to bet that most casual fans have little idea we could lose the guy. Even Buzz stays the knowledge that he is sought after is important. We have a guy that others want to be there guy.

I have been saying for two weeks he was gone and not so sure anymore. Really, really glad that it appears AK job is gone. No way does Buzz do TN or MO in my opinion. Time for the heavy hitters at MU to act like heavy hitters. Knock it out of the park and "pay the man his money".

Warrior_2002

Ya...this is not looking too.  I can't blame him for going close to home.  He is that type of guy.  Man, does this suck.  Hopefully my gut is wrong but the way this article reads, OU will pony up.  Would be nice to hear about a contract extension soon.  Just seems like too perfect of a storm here.  The good thing is that Marquette will survive either way...I have faith.
Well enough reading this crap for the day.  I need to get myself geared up to send my energy to Cleveland to push this team into the Sweet 16!!!  We are Marquette!!! Let's go!!!!

MU and OU can both pay him $2M+    Money is a given in either spot.

GGGG

Money won't be the issue. The issue will be if buzz thinks he can build a national power at MU.

Could Dawson be Buzz' Shumpert?

You really don't want to bring up Dawson and Buzz up together.

Skatastrophy

Would Buzz (or any respectable coach) move to a university that's facing NCAA investigations into their basketball program for the 2nd time in 5 years?  Was that all because of Sampson?  Or is it a problem with the administration at OU?

Who is Dawson, and why is this the case? Honest questions, both.

Brandon Dawson, a stud inside player from Indiana that MU, Purdue, IU, MSU and others battled recruiting for in the last two years.  He chose Michigan State last fall.  Those Big Ten schools were, to put it mildly, not happy with our recruitment of him and how we went about recruiting him.

I think MU Mac should have used Tokoto as an example instead of Dawson, for any number of reasons.

tower912

chico's heard rumors that Buzz was being dishonest in his pursuit of a recruit we didn't get.   Some Spartan fan posted on the bucky scout board that Dawson was going to whoever paid his AAU coach and that Buzz was the high bidder.   Then Dawson goes to MSU and the sparty fan hushes.

Incorrect on just about every level...but nice try.

Care to clear things up for those of us not in the know, Chicos?

Follow-up question: what does "Buzz's Shumpert" mean? If I were to venture a guess, this is the "one that got away" at Marquette that led the coach to believe he wouldn't be able to succeed here long-term. Am I anywhere close?

Oohhh ... for only the 104th time Chico's makes veiled and unsupported allegations involving Branden Dawson based on a message board rumor that anyone with Google can find.
Perhaps it's from the same site where he read that Buzz pushed Christopherson out the door.

In the meantime, I would suggest that Buzz's decision - if one needs to be made - is going to be a bit more complex than whether or not his wife wishes to live a two-hour plane ride from Dallas vs. a two-hour car ride from Dallas.
