Marquette would not have made the Tournament without beating West Virginia last Wednesday. As it was, they were one of the last 6 in.

Yup...weird...I started the same thread about 3 minutes ago and ghosts in the machine took it down...weird.  You're 100% right 4ever.

CrazyEcho

last six in before the play-in games, right?

Pakuni

Careful guys. You might trip and fall over one another rushing to say 'I told you so.' Or at least sprain an elbow patting yourself on the back.

Excuse me ... I thought lock means "in" and I see MU's name on the board.

Now before you give an 11 seed an anal exam remember that 11 BE teams made it in and the committee had to move teams around and out of position.

I think it was taken down because you've already turned multiple threads into a "Chicos Was Right Thread".

Thanks for bringing a little logic to the table, AnotherMU84.

Except people here were saying lock before the Big East tournament even started.  That's the difference

No.  Last non-bye at-large team.

Hards Alumni

And who is to say they weren't a lock before the BET?

Do you know for a fact that they cared about conference tournaments?

Doesn't seem like decent performances helped CU or VT.  It's not as obvious as you'd like to present.

Because all you do is talk the team down. Be happy for MU or shut up. You ruin this board.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

The committee has more to consider than just best team, seed by seed. With all of the location and other matchup problems, MU could have easily originally been a nine seed and got bumped a back to an 11. Nobody knows who the last teams in were, after the four who are playing on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Umm...we all know who the last team in were...CBS and ESPN both posted the graphic.  MU was the last non-bye team.  That's a fact.

NersEllenson

Let's just be happy we weren't an 8 or 9 seed..who cares that we got an 11?!!  Much better chance to beat a Syracuse in the 2nd round than a Kansas or Ohio State.  This draw is pretty favorable.
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

Warrior Forever

Forget the petty squabbling over seed, etc.  We're in and it's time to take down the Muskies.

The administration looks at six straight NCAA bids.  They are not apt to change a single thing in regards to scheduling.  Per Forbes, Marquette is making serious money and is likely to maintain the status quo.

Go Warriors.

All I know is that MU got in. That's all I care about. Maybe they would have made it without being WV, maybe they wouldn't have. Honestly, what difference does it make?

Initially I thought this thread was going to be about Chicos since he has become an expert at getting threads locked with his asinine posts.

I am thrilled for MU.  What I don't like is being called out the last few weeks as being anti-MU or anti-Buzz for daring to say we not only weren't a lock but had work to do.  It seems you reward people here for how much they cheer lead, not based on rational decisions.  A lot of folks here were thrown under the bus because they dared to call it like it was...and they were right.  Thrilled for MU. Disappointed that bringing honest conversation and rational thought is punished here as anti-MU when it's nothing but straight talk.  What a concept.

Maybe you should try harder to not come off a smug ass whipe. That'd help your cause.

Did the selection committee say we were one of the last six in? Or is that conjecture on the part of the analysts and our own posters?

My understanding was that the committee can bump teams up or down up to 3 lines in order to make things fit. How do we know we weren't bumped down seeds for overall seeding purposes?

The bigger question is: Who cares? Nah nah, I told you so? Is that all there is to this? Ridiculous.

Let's discuss something legitimate, like why Marquette and Georgia were not swapped in order to avoid second round same-conference match-ups. Eleven teams in means the committee could have avoided potential second round Big East matchups. Why did they not with Marquette - Cuse and  Cinncy - UConn?

I am no conspiracy theorist, but you have to figure they intended for those second round match-ups, as the simple way to fix them was so obvious.

Oh, and Chicos....grow up. How's that for calling someone out. Always the victim.

Here's another concept: Man up and quit crying. People didn't like your thoughts because your thoughts seemingly focus on the negative. MU got in. We don't know if they were a lock or not. It doesn't matter. They got in. Posters saying MU was a lock weren't wrong. MU got in. We'll never know if the BET wins had an effect on their standing or not...and it doesn't matter. MU got in. How about focusing on the game instead of whining about how people were mean to you?

NickelDimer

This is PURE speculation.

I'd argue that even if we hadn't beat WV, and possibly even if we hadn't beat PC, we'd have gotten in over VCU and/or UAB.

Regardless of where we were ultimately seeded, that's what I believe.
