The dreaded 8 or 9 seed and will be playing in Cleveland, OH.

You might as well not even show up if you make it to the second round, in that case.

Playing Ohio State in Ohio?  Just forfeit...

A disastrous draw, if the rumor is true.

BrewCity83

If you believe that, then I have some nice swampland in Florida for sale...

Basically that is just the rumor on the "Scout" board. Pure BS if you ask me. Nobody has any inside knowledge on any MU message board on where MU will be seeded I can guarantee that.

I think that's what Northern Iowa said last year about playing Kansas in St. Louis.

Willie, what you've just wrote is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read...... I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

What a complete farce of a post.

While I think this is a wildly false rumor.  I also acknowledge that it could happen.  I actually welcome this scenario.  The way MU plays this year, we can beat, or lose to anyone.  Assuming we manage to beat an opponent 8 or 9, I welcome the chance to play a #1 on a neutral court.  In my mind we have just as good of a chance to win as just about any other seed.  If you knock them off - AWESOME!  If not, oh well.

I disagree strongly that MU could beat anyone, due to two reasons...

1. MU is not a good 3pt shooting team, so you don't have a scenario where the team gets red-hot from 3pt land and pulls the upset.

2. MU is a horrible....HORRIBLE...defensive team, so you can't count on lockdown defense to keep them close to a top-notch team.

I sure hope that rumor is false.  If you thought Louisville dominated MU, Ohio State would slice and dice them and it would be brutal to watch.

Then please, don't watch it.  Better yet, don't post about it either.  Man you are one debbie downer all the time.   >:(

I don't mind discussing the hard facts every once in awhile but this willie dude is pretty much 24/7 bitching.  Somebody throw him some prozac and a lithium.

Willie, to use your own example against you (to prove my point that MU can beat anyone)....did MU have a chance to beat UL @ UL?

It's not a good chance - but I really believe we have a decent (20%) chance to beat just about anyone.  If Purdue and Wiscy can beat OSU, then MU has a *chance*.  Bring it on.  I'd love to see the matchup.  It also mean's we'd be playing at least our second game in the NCAAs!

tOSU is beatable. But, you MUST control the tempo. Northwestern took 'em to OT twice. UW controlled the pace in Madison and won and didn't in Columbus and had their asses sliced and diced.

Yeah Dodds put this "rumor" up on his site.  While it is a possibility, no one could possibly know this until the committee meets on Sunday.

Tugg Speedman

Only a billion dollar TV contract is riding on the seedings and they are so careless that a basketball message board knows where we are going 48 hours before the selection show?

I call BS and even if this is exactly the way it works out, I still call BS.

tower912

wampum, you should have immediately discounted this rumor as you don't think MU deserves to be in.  To compromise the one principle you have (that MU stinks) simply to stir it up.....character revealed.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

wampum-ya gotta ease up on the peyote buttons man.  i thought you couldn't play on home floor or what could be contrued as a home field advantage in the dance??  i'm open for clarifications on this one

Correct, but it is your home court.  That is defined by the number of games you host on that court.  A few years back, Nova played on their own home court and a few at the Wachovia Center (which hosted that year).  They played fewer times at the Wachovia so it was not considered their "home court".  They were then able to play there in the NCAA Tourney.

lab_warrior

For Christ's sake, the FIELD isn't even SET YET, with respect to auto-bids, bubble teams, etc.  How could they know where to put anyone?!?  Such a sociopathically dimwitted "rumor."

I agree with this 100%. Assuming we end up an 8 or 9 which seems to be the general thought, this scenario has a 1 in 4 chance of happening and someone is going to be patting themselves on the back and expect lots of e-admiration as having some  kind of great inside info.

The truth in this rumor is that if you throw enough dog crap against the wall eventually something will stick.

TJ

I believe information could easily have been occasionally leaked early to some teams in past years about destination/seed, but not this early.

However, if we do get the 8/9, there is a possibility ND & Pitt both get 1 seeds, which would put us against either KU or tOSU.

Life Rule #22:

When someone starts out "I heard a rumor that..." what follows next is assuredly 100% bull sh#*.  In this case, it's not just sh#*, it's the steaming variety.

For further reading, I recommend the definitions of the following in Webster's Dictionary:

"Rumor" as in, "I heard a rumor that your mom had a sex change."
"Predict" as in, "I predict MU will play in Cleveland against tOSu."
"Sequestered" as in, "The tournament committee is sequestered in Indianapolis."

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

brewcity77

I saw an interview with a former SC member this week. He said that one year, after all the seeds were agreed upon, they realized they only had a half-hour left to seed the bracket. Something tells me they don't even have the seeds decided on yet, much less any idea of locations and match-ups on a Friday afternoon.

Uhhh, yeah, we all said that about Duke. Don't recall the score offhand but don't think we were "blown out."

Also think Pittsburgh was a Top 5 team when we played them and......

If Northwestern can hang with OSU, i fell MU could also

rocket11

Lunardi must know the guy at MU that heard the rumor....he has updated his bracket accordingly.   :D
