The Case for Junior As Team Captain
« on: March 10, 2011, 10:32:10 AM »
When I watched the MU revealed series, one of the things I came away with was how Junior was a leader in practice.

In the half-dozen games I've been to this year, I also noted that Junior was a leader on the court.  During stoppages of play and FTs, it was often Junior, not Jimmy, DJO or Jae, that huddled the team on the court and was talking/inspiring/giving instructions.

Last night Jimmy was interviewed by Homer and asked about Junior taking over the game.  Jimmy said that he was a leader in practice and that everyone sees him as a leader of the team.

Summary, the natural born leader on our team in Junior.  He seems to do well at that position and my impression is most of the other players defer to him as a defacto leader.

Could you see Junior as Captain next year?  Or does it always have to be a senior or your statistically best player?  Captain seems to be a role that is perfect for Junior, and he plays the perfect position for it.

Thoughts?

It is a great thing for the team when your point guard is your leader.  He is the quarterback.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.
