If we win today we could play the celtics for all I care.

You all saw what MU's press did to USF right?  What do you think Cincy's will do?  This is going to get real ugly.  The only reason Villanova didn't advance is because they took the air out of the ball and stopped attacking.  The name of Cincy's game is pressure, and they just keep coming at you in waves.  USF's guards don't stand a chance.

Either way, I think we want Cicny to trounce them.  It makes our loss not look as bad.

I don't think we have to worry about the loss looking bad. Cincy finished at 11-7 and as one of the hottest teams in the Big East

Gotta root for West Virginia tonight to help our RPI since we beat them during the year.

We should be in regardless. USF would do more for our RPI because we beat them on the road. But all we're playing for is seeding right now, and I think that we will have a lot more to do with our seeding than anyone else. Of course, there's the argument that if USF wins and we win tonight, there's a chance we could see USF in the semifinals. A very, very, very slim chance that all that pans out, but I'd probably rather see USF than Notre Dame, from an odds-of-winning perspective. Though from a personal perspective, I'd rather play the Irish, just because I like having chances to beat them.

I think you have to root for Cincy.  I think they only option that keeps MU out of the tourney is if someone other than the Top 10 Big East teams win the Tourney (obvious MU is 11th but if they win they are in).  USF is the only one left.

I think even with MU's resume the committee will have a hard time justifying 12 teams from the Big East.  I think 11 will be hard enough as it is.  I think if USF wins then the NCAA figures a way to make it only 11 teams or possibly even only 10.  The other team out would be Nova.

Other than that it doesn't matter as it won't really help our RPI as one team will drop as much as the other rises.

I don't think USF would really impact MU's chances but why risk it

USF won't impact us in that way, especially if we win tonight. Beat West Virginia, and we're a lock. If USF did win the tourney and they decided they didn't want 12 Big East teams, it'd be Villanova, and not us, that were left out.

I agree.  If MU wins they are in but you won't know that until after this game finishes.  If USF loses it doesn't matter so why not root for Cincy?  Other than having an underdog go fairly deep USF winning provides little to no value.

I agree, I just worded it poorly.  I meant it would put a little shine on the loss, if that's possible.
