Last year vs. ND on Senior Day, was it one of those two bumbling, incompetent DERP-sacks who couldn't even be bothered to get out of the way of the ball on an errant pass?!
Remember it should have been an ND turnover, except one of the officials, (pretty sure one of those two), it bounced right off him, and was still in play.  FANTASTIC REFLEXES.

Maybe now Burr and Higgins retire. Please.

🏀

How about chucking the ball into the air with time on the clock? Technical foul. Rutgers gets their two free throws and we are overtime at least.

Ari Gold

absolutely shameful and embarrassing.

Can we finally force these guys to stop?

As long as it's a packaged deal with Hightower...

NCAA response.  OK, this answers some questions.

So no technical should have been called, and they couldn't have reviewed it since no call was made - meaning the whistle was not blown so they couldn't go to the monitor to put time back on the clock.

That doesn't mean Higgins and Burr shouldn't be fired.  This was a travesty of biblical, Old Testament proportions.

Warriors10

That stuff is even called in pickup ball...

tower912

Swallowed whistle on the Rutgers drive.....ok, it happens.    Missed push in the back on the missed FT that gave the ball back to SJU.....ok, it happens.    Horn going off during FT...really?   Rutgers player getting fouled trying to catch the baseball pass.....ok, it happens.    All 3 refs missing the travel and stepping out of bounds with 1.7 seconds left....inexcusable.      All combined.....pathetic.   Rutgers, everybody who isn't a SJU fan feels your pain.

Wow that was ridiculous.  Completely inexcusable.  Horrible to the point of being fishy.

Blackhat

That was pretty damn ridiculous.

Hey grumpy old men....you get paid for all 40 minutes...might want to stick around and actually officiate those final game-deciding seconds.

You bring them back out.  I am not blaming the Rutgers staff, but someone must have noticed.  Maybe I am making a big deal out of nothing, but I observed no one from Rutgers complaining to anyone.  Probably didn't even know until well after.  Shame.

Can't bring them out because they cannot overturn the call.  They never called travelling and never called him for stepping out of bounds - both of which the played had done, neither of which is reviewable.  They can only check to see if the ball landed out of bounds prior to time expiring.

Sadly, Higgins appears to be looking right at the play.  He is as bad an official as they are.  Time for him to leave the game.

ringout

On the positive side, the rest of the sporting world now knows how bad Burr and Higgins are.

DiaperDandy

You know its bad when everyone and their brother is complaining about the call, not just the losing team's fans!  Man, the Vandy game does not look nearly as bad after watching the shananigans that took place at the end of this game!

Again, 65-63 final w/ 128.5 over/under.  YUP, FISHY, REAL FISHY.

El Duderino

If Rutgers had been a bubble team, should the selection committee have taken account how badly Rutgers got hosed at the end of that game?

GGGG

Remember how I say that blaming the refs for a loss is a losers lament?  Well...I'm making an exception in this case.

groove

wow that looked like as bad as some latin american soccer matches ive seen as far as refs go. Or even some italian serie a matches.

warriors1991

I'm still at work and just heard about this.

Wow Burr and Higgins have really outdone themselves here. What a complete and utter embarrassment.

Anybody know what the national media is saying about this? Granted the final result of this game may not necessarily have huge impact on the NCAA (or even how the BEast tourney ends) but it's just a terrible disservice to the game.

Who is saying what?

ESPN talked about it during HT of the USF/Cincy game. The general consensus was that they were good refs with lots of experience and simply made a mistake. They said that the refs were often overworked, but that the simple fact is you have to play to the final buzzer, and that includes the referees. Still, for the most part it felt that while the ESPN team did blame the refs for making the mistake, they were willing to let them off easy because of how tough a job it is.

groove

back in the days of the Old West, Burr and Higgins would have been strung up. But, sadly, we are more refined these days.

Ha!  I was wondering where you'd come down on the issue.  It appears we have achieved a unanimous opinion - is this an MUScoop first???  Can anyone help a brother out?

Higgins brought his A game today.  Wow that was terrible, feel bad for Rutgers.  Happy we don't have to worry about Higgins or Burr tonight.

WFAN was reporting that Burr was already off the court and way down the tunnel while there was still time on the clock.

Hards Alumni

I am surprised that anyone is surprised that these guys screwed up again.
