If Georgetown gets beat today, is it possible if not likely that MU ends up with a better seed than they do? The overall body of work would say no, but that overall body of work included Chris Wright, and they frankly have stunk since he's been gone. I know they are maintaining their claim that he may be back for the tournament, but if they seed the team that will play in the tournament, they are likley to get hammered because of his absence, no?

Would also likely depend on what we do tonight for a dance seed compared to Georgetown. They would likely still get a higher seed becuase of RPI/Poll Ranking.

Gtown's getting a beatdown in the first half.....a Warrior win tonight could go a long way.
HILLTOP SENIOR SURVEY from 1984 Yearbook:
Favorite Drinking Establishment:

1. The Avalanche.              7. Major Goolsby's.
2. The Gym.                      8. Park Avenue.
3. The Ardmore.                 9. Mugrack.
4. O'Donohues.                 10. Lighthouse.
5. O'Pagets.
6. Hagerty's.

Georgetown is a bit like MU when James went down.  Kind of tough to really tell how good they are without Wright because they've played nothing but excellent teams.  They may have still lost those games, but not nearly as badly.  I hope he gets back healthy in time for the NCAA's, it sucks to see a senior star go down like that.

NersEllenson

If MU beats WVU tonight - any merit to the idea of MU getting a higher seed than WVU?  WVU currently 17 on S-Curve...but if MU goes 2-0 against the Mountaineers for the season...??
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

Georgetown without Wright does not deserve a bid. The commitee may or may not take that into account. I still thin the commitee will be looking hard at each team before they give the Big East 11 bids. Georgetown, Villanova and MU will be scrutinized heavily.

I'm guessing that the seeding of the BEast teams--especially if 11 get in, as currently expected by most folks--it likely to be odd, and perhaps inconsistent and frustrating to some teams. With the committee's aim to have conference matchups avoided, and the need to deal with site limitations, I think they'll need to shift a few teams up or down to make things work.

Now, if G'town loses today, with Villanova already out, MU could play themselves into the good side of those adjustments by winning tonight (and beyond). Overall, though, I think that trying to predict seeding will be more difficult this year than ever before, due to loads of BEast teams, the 69 team tournament, and the weak bubble.

With everything that's gone on this year, I'll be happy with any seed at all.  I would prefer to be one of the 60 teams with a first round bye, but I don't want to be greedy.

I'm the same way. And, despite knowing that my words won't stop it, I think the banter about possible seeding is even more speculative this year than ever.

Tim Higgins and Jim Burr part of the crew reffing the St. John's/Rutgers match-up. How many crews work the 4 games today? 4? 2? 1?

I would HATE to have those two for our game... *shudder*

And I've thought all along that was the reason Gtown has consistently said "we think Wright will be able to go for the NCAA" - they'll get a bid if it's possible he'll play, but not if he's done for the year.  So, just say it's possible, an they're in (which they will be...).  But likely Wright will not be able to play.

Hah.  Yes.  BTW...did I miss it, how was our D last night (by the numbers, of course...)?

I think its more entertaining to watch Higgins run than to watch the game itself

D was pretty good last night.  Only allowed 0.90 ppp and 45% on eFG%.  And since it's all about eFG%.  Don't know if we really made PC uncomfortable, though, because their conference average is right around 45%.

Didn't turn PC over much, but they're one of the best teams in the conference at protecting the ball.

Did a pretty good job on the defensive boards too, holding PC well under their average.  Usually PC gets a rebound on 1/3 missed shots.  We only allowed 1/4 missed shots.

I believe they have 2 so I assume we will get this crew.

Thanks for running/posting the numbers HS - oddly something I look forward to (especially when we win).

Isn't a 9:30 tip (I'm assuming it will be delayed like last night) a little late for those old b@stards?

They change the crews for every game, so we will not have Burr or Higgins tonight.

TallTitan34

I'm not so sure about that.  A few years ago anyway, the first session first game crew did the first game of the second session.  The first session second game crew did the second game of the second session.

Maybe it has changed.

TallTitan34

Rutgers and St. John's are going down to the wire.  Tied at 60 with a minute to go.

TallTitan34

St. John's up 1 with 20 seconds to go.  Rutgers ball.

And Rutgers turns it over.

Just proves that you should never pass to a white guy.

willie warrior

Huge screw up by Rutgers. Their Big Man commits an Ole fould ala Otule/Gardner 25 feet from the basket trying to block the Guard's dribble. Why these teams do this is beyond me. Same thing that MU does.
