apparently was against Big East rules. He made the media wait almost 75 minutes before making himself and the players available. I know, sportswriters are scum in people's eyes, but...

NickelDimer

But...but what?  Buzz is paid to win and his top priority is the best interest's of his team.

Do you think Calhoun, Boheim, Pitino have never broken this rule?  Keep the media waiting, they can ask their dimwitted questions later.

I have no problem with him making them wait. But, my fear is it was due to his deer in the headlight look and nothing else. He is uncharted waters for him. The BE is for big boys and Buzz is feeling some heat. Time to come out swinging, not hide.

groove

Buzz a rule breaker? Nahhhh never. A rule bender and a visitor to the edges of sleazytown maybe. But hey how about that defense and that Big South conference caliber coaching ability

NickelDimer

I honestly don't understand how he's taking ANY heat for this.  Some act like he ducked out on the media and jumped on the team bus.  He had a team meeting because that's what was most important in that moment.

Futher, when the time came he stood, faced the media and answered thier questions.  He didn't hide from anything.

He's afraid to look the press in the eye but not his 12 players and assistant coaches that just lost?  He has a recruit in the locker room after the game (Nolan) and he's not afraid to argue in favor of committing to MU but he's worried above facing Rosiak?

This is 180 degrees out of phase?

Agreed.  his number one focus is his team and at the moment, the priority was to deal with what just transpired immediately preceding his locker room talk.  his team needed him more than the public needed his answers to softball questions in those 75 minutes - the softball questions could wait.

AnotherMU--I do not think he is afraid of the media. I think he is coming unglued a tad.

Then he will fit in with you and several other posters.

This subject needed another thread?  Really?  So Buzz chose his team over the media and that's a problem to this board?  Really?  The complainers are the ones that have wanted Buzz to do something.  Here was your chance to applaud, but you took the wrong road again.

People seem to look for reasons to complain.

I thought the definition of a message board was a place people with common interests can come together and complain.

Goose

I have zero interest in complaining...much prefer celebrating W's. If you play like crap you deserve the complaints.

It's like a virtual barbershop / corner tavern.

But you're no complaining about crappy play.  You're complaining about Buzz "hiding" and how he's unable to "handle the heat" or "hang with the big boys", all of which is complete garbage.

I said in my first post I had no problem with Buzz making them wait. Simply said I hope it was for the right reason and not ducking out.

StillWarriors

It would go against everything Buzz preaches and what we've seen from him in the past to hide. I'm not buying it. A little circling of the wagons was badly needed, and I'm sure he took advantage of the immediate aftermath of that awful performance to do so.

Stretchdeltsig

This is baloney.  Buzz can do what he wants.  The priority was to be with and talk to the team, not the media.  That's ok.

If you are a sportswriter with a deadline, it's not OK. That's why the Big East and the NCAA have these rules.

So Buzz should've put the sportwriters' deadlines ahead of the best interests of his team?

Absolutely not. But part of his $1 million-plus salary is to take care of his and his players' media responsibilities. Take 10 minutes, answer the lamebrained questions sportswriters ask, then talk to the team all night if he feels it's necessary. He could also have tried to talk to the recruit he kept waiting for 75 minutes.

Bull.  If that's what his team needed at that moment than he did the right thing.  It's not as if he's made a habit of this.  This is a non-issue as far as I'm concerned.

And reports had the recruit in the locker room with the team for this meeting.  It's not at if he was sitting out in the cold waiting for Buzz.

It should be overwhelmingly obvious that some are just looking to complain about anything.

Tugg Speedman

This thread has found the most irrelevant thing in three years of Buzz to complain about.
