grass isn't always greener....you better make damn sure you have a better option signed up.

Buzz definitely deserves to live out his contract as long as he's keeping us .500 or better in Big East play.

Agree....but this is why some of us think it may be a tad early to start extending him just yet...something a bunch of folks here couldn't wait to do a mere few days ago....things like "back up the Brinks truck".  No need to.  Let's see how it plays out

and how big of a hole will we have to dig out after he departs? Other than the JUCOs where do you have any faith in Buzz and his recruiting. He is an awful defensive coach and awful at making adjustments in game.

nyg

After the last two games, why would Arkansas even consider him?

you don't just fire a guy or not make an attempt to keep a coach unless you have someone signed and ready to go.

Last thing we need is a crappy search going after the f++king Chris Lowery's and Randy Bennett's....talk about a crap shoot.   You ready for that?   Lets see what Buzz can do, if he can build a program or not.   Usually want to give a coach at least four years probably five or six as long as you're not getting totally flushed down the sh.tter.

And he ducks out on the radio post game interview.  What do we think the excuse is?

What, he did not even speak?

chren21

Nope homer said "he must still be talking to the team".  Pretty weak

Boone

Not good. That's a Crean move he'd regularly pull after a loss.

I agree.  It's a kitten move, and it's not like Homer asks such tough and critical questions.

madtownwarrior

buzz is suspect - poor defensive teams, losing recruits before, during and after seasons - underachieving this year...

sorry to hear he skipped out on the PC after this last debacle- not a good sign...

Hmmm, I remember someone else doing that a few times and people here went ballistic...wondering if those same people will go ballistic.....hmmm

Other than Stone Cold, this thread screams ignorance.

Jim Calhoun - 9-9
Jay Wright - 9-9

We beat Huggins and Boeheim this year...

And y'all want to throw Buzz under the bus?  Ridiculous.  Check out how Tony Bennett and Keno Davis are doing in their 3rd years on the job..two "first choice" MU candidates after Crean left that TURNED MU DOWN.

Weren't we predicted by most to finish around 11th? Last year, Buzz overachieved. His first season, he did what he was supposed to do. And he skipped out on the radio post-game interview, probably because he had a lot to say to his team.

Did you take Logic at MU?  Just asking.  Davis did not turn down MU, number one.  Secondly, comparing other programs is stupid and foolish.  How would Buzz have done at IU with that mess that he inherited?  How would Buzz have done at UVA or PC?  How would Bennett or Davis have done at MU inheriting 4 top 10 scorers in MU history, two future NBA players, etc, etc?  None of knows that answer, so your comparison is, to put it mildly, weak.

GGGG

Are people seriously suggesting that we should get rid of Buzz because he didn't grant an interview with our moronic play-by-play man?  Who cares???

bilsu

Basically all the publications predicted us to finsih 11th or 12th. We finished tied for 9th. The ending is disappointing, but sometimes it is when you play teams. Switch the timing of this game with the Villanova game and we might have finished 11-7. We played Villanova when they were playing well (they suck now)and we would of played Seton hall without Hazel. We also caught St. John's when they were hot. On the flip side we caught Syracuse in the middle of a four game losing streak and got the away game against Uconn who has not been real successful lately. I would have rather played Georgetown today than when we played them a month ago. We caught Notre Dame without one of their best players. We were better off playing West virgina the first game of the season than playing them now. Except for Pitt and Notre Dame every team had their ups and downs.

So we should be happy about bein predicted at 11th and finishing there?

Coming from the poster who loves to compare MU wins/losses to how UWM fared against say DePaul..I find it comical that you of all people would suggest making comparisons to be stupid and foolish.  Your lack of logic is on full display daily here.

And let's not forget how you continually tried to escalate how big of "mess" the IU program was - with false statements such as IU being banned from NCAA/postseason tourney play.  Remember that lie you floated earlier this year?  IU was penalized with a slap on the wrist - 1 scholarship taken away for 1 year and a reduction of allowable phone calls for 1 year.  Hardly a death penalty.

Lie?  Hardly.  The announcement (November 25, 2008) of what the penalty would be came AFTER the season started and AFTER the recruiting season was over...thus killing any recruiting for that year.  In fact, they are still on probation until November of 2011.  I know that remains impossible for you to squeeze into your gray matter, but perhaps writing it on a small piece of paper, placing in your ear and using an ice pick horizontally to insert may make an impression.  Give it a try.

It's funny how many national college experts say what a mess it was but you, the man so obsessed with one poster it's in his signature, knows the true answer.  Weird.  Maybe you should go work for ESPN, the Sporting News, the Louisville Courier Journal, Yahoo, etc...they all had it wrong.

Pretty sure MU signed 3 pretty good players in the spring signing season - why could IU not do the same?  The "recruiting season" as you call it no longer ends in November - most teams add players in the spring - including IU.  The problem was, the kids who Crean was able to add in the spring, weren't JUCO All-Americans or POY caliber.  For a team to be 12-19 in Year 3 and 3-15 in conference play - it speaks to one of two things:  either the recruiting has been really bad, or the coaching has been atrocious.  Unfortunately for IU, both reflect back on the head coach.

Wow, I guess now I need to draw a timeline for you.

Let's try it in text so I don't need to get all artistic.  My 9 year old daughter is really good at art, so if I need to go that route I will.

Here we go...hang on to your hairpiece.

November 25th was when the NCAA announcement came out...got it?  Good.

The signing period that year ended November 12th.  Now, is Nov. 12th BEFORE or AFTER November 28th?

If you're a quality HS player thinking about playing at a school and the NCAA still hasn't decided how badly they are going to hammer the school you may attend, AND you must sign your NLI during a week in which the NCAA STILL hasn't made their decision yet....well, ners, what do you think that does to recruiting?  Hmm.

Let me help you from many of the giants of the industry....yes, ners, it kills recruiting, encourages transfers, etc.  Please, try to keep up.

Whether Ebanks attends is part of the uncertainty surrounding Indiana after Wednesday's allegations of "major" recruiting violations. Among the possible penalties is a postseason ban, which could devastate recruiting.

If IU is banned from the NCAA tournament, current high school juniors who made non-binding oral commitments to IU or are considering playing for IU could decide to go elsewhere. Even the four seniors who signed a binding letter of intent in November could ask to be released.

"I'm really concerned," said Stephan Van Treese, the state's top-ranked junior and one of the nationally ranked players in his class considering Indiana.

"If they have violations that they can't go to the tournament, why would I want to go there? The main thing I want to do when I go to college is play in the tournament. I think a lot of players feel the same way. A lot of people won't want to go there if they can't go to the postseason."

"I think it's tough to convince a top-level prospect who has other options to go to a school where there's a good chance you won't get to participate in the postseason," said Jerry Meyer, national recruiting analyst for Rivals.com.

"Rival recruiters would have a field day going in and talking not about only sanctions and postseason bans, but the coach's job security and, 'Do you want to go to a program that functions that way?,' and pointing out past histories," Bob Gibbons said.

Let me know if my daughter needs to start drawing a timeline.
