Ok, I realize its highly unlikely. Anyone think he has a chance of playing for the first whistle just so they could announce his name? I am not convinced doing so makes us lose that game. What do you all think??
Warrior in the class of 2011.

DCWarriors04

Would be a nice gesture...but NO...we need to start the game off on the right foot. Having him on the court would give Cincy a 5 on 4 advantage until the first whistle.

Doris Burkes Thong

It would be a nice gesture, but only a coach like Tom Crean would do something like that in a pivotal game of all things.

bobnoxious

He will probably get his name called during intros but not actually be on the floor for tip.  They did this for dominic james after his injury.

Tugg Speedman

How about Fulce?  Does Buzz start him?

I would guess if Buzz asked Frozena, he would say no.  I think he'd rather be in the NCAA tournament for the 4th time in his four years than get a token start.

Doris, come on. No need to take it this direction....

WTF? Are the Warriors playing the Sisters of Perpetual Motion or somethin'?
"Give 'Em Hell, Al"

GGGG

I think it would be just fine to play him til the first dead ball.  Cmon...

SacWarrior

Lighten up fellas. First dead ball is usually within like 30 seconds.

Frozena can't screw everything up in one possession, and if we need to use a timeout to take him out then so be it he's a senior isn't he?

#MUBB

After today, i'll take Frozena out there instead of Buycks.

Blackhat

Personally, if I'm a walk-on and I sweat and love these other players on my  team,    I want the best for the team and I'd remove myself from the game or shoot down the idea for the benefit of my "brothers".

I'd tell them they better go get a lead and then I'll go in.

So what is the starting line-up Wednesday?

DJO
Buycks (senior)
Frozena (senior)
Butler (senior)
Fulce (senior)

That first whistle better come fast.

I think they should start him. He's put in as much time and energy into this program as any other player, plus tuition. He deserves it.

Honestly, I think it would be more embarrassing than anything to get a token start and get pulled after 30 seconds. Maybe announce those guys separately just before the starters to honor them and take care of business with the game-it's a big one. Haven't we lost the last 2 or 3 senior days?

He wouldn't be the first starter this year to get pulled after 30 seconds and then not re-enter the game.

brewcity77

No, absolutely not, under no circumstance. Rob has been a hard-working, diligent member of the team for four years, but the best players should start. I believe it was last year, I remember us playing someone on their senior day and the opposing coach gave a token start to a senior who would normally never get it. We got off to a hot start and won a one-possession game, and I remember the announcers pointing to the first few minutes as a possible reason why we won. If Frozena starts, Cincy gets out to a 12-3 run while exploiting him defensively, and end up winning 74-72, where would the blame land? At Buzz's feet for being foolish enough to start him or at Frozena's for not being up to the task? This isn't Centenary, it's not even DePaul. This is another team fighting for their NCAA lives and fully capable of beating us. Thereis absolutely no call for handing out token minutes until the game is in hand. It's too important, and if it led to a season-ending 3-game losing streak before an NIT berth would probably have even more idiots calling for Buzz's head.

Categorically no. Absolutely no. Under no circumstance with the exception of 7 freak injuries between now and Wednesday. If Buzz did it, it would instantly become his worst ever coaching decision, even if we still won the game.

Blackhat

Did Tommy Brice ever start a pivotal game against Louisville...... no he  didn't

Or Mitch Cummuch against UCLA....no he didn't..

These new age touchy-feely ideas make me sick personally.    Even Rudy didn't get in till Notre Dame stomped on Georgia Tech.

jsglow

No.

And in fact the receipe for his playing today seemed like a reminder from one of the assistants to Buzz that this might be Rob's last shot.  With about 90 seconds to go, he went to speak with Buss who immediately looked up and summoned Rob.
