I always thought teams would be much happier with a 10/11 seed rather than a 8/9 seed.  No one wants to face a 1 seed in a second round game.

True, though if you happen to beat said #1 seed, you get the their bracket advantage the rest of the way.  The way MU plays this year, I might almost take that scenario and roll the dice.  Nothing to lose, and we have a team that *could* win (see: Duke game).   Though, since they wouldn't put us in the bracket with Pitt or Duke as #1, I guess I'd hope for Texas.

This is what I always contend.  The difference in quality of opponent of a 1 or 2 seed versus a 3 or 4 seed is staggering!

And the worst thing about a one seed is they could blow us out.  Nothing worse than getting annihiliated on national tv during the NCAA tourney.  Don't want to be greedy, but please no 8/9 seed.

Could their resume at 20-11 get them a 6/7 seed?  Maybe even a 5?

IF we win out these last three games, which will not be easy, take two in BE tourny (20-12), its quite possible. Over that last few years that committee has been pretty darn nice to us, unlike a lot of people. Also I remember some people saying that sometimes they have to make room in order to fill up all the bubble teams at the top, which will eventually bring them down further. With last year at 22-11 going into San Jose, I can see anything from best case a 6-10.

Well, conference tourney results would have to be ignored by the mock selection committee this year because the tournaments haven't been played yet.  We all know the real tourneys have a huge effect on seedings--didn't Syracuse vault from the bubble to a high seed by romping through the BE Tourney last year?

For the purposes of the exercise, conference tournaments are simulated during the mock-selection.

I wasn't surprised by the fact that discussion on conference affiliation is curbed, but I agree that tourney results have to play a role... that's the only logical explanation for MU's 6 seed last year (even if they were moved up a slot to accommodate a scenario, a 7 still would have been somewhat a stretch).

In any event, take care of business, win your first BET game, and MU might be looking at the 7 line...  although, I'd be much happier with the path of the 11 seed.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Unless the #1 seed is San Diego State. You could end up facing a 16 in the second round ;D
