Not sure if this is threadworthy, but I thought DJO snagging the tip was a great planned play.  If you watch the replay, you can see that DJO was trying to hedge the tip in Uconn's backcourt from the get-go.  He was not surprised in the least when he got it, and went right to the basket without hesitation. 

Very heady move by DJO, and set the aggressive tone we needed for OT.

Also want to add Crowder had one of his worst offensive games on the year and Butler had a terrible second half and we still beat #15 UCONN on the road!

Thought the same thing. Heady play by DJO and it snowballed for him from there.

I agree that his grabbing the jumpball and going straight to the hoop was critical, but I think his energy and aggressiveness to do that came from his game-tying hoop near the end of regulation.

Still, did anyone think that he could've been called for a turnover on that end of reg play? He pump-faked and seemed to pass to himself (it isn't clear to me that the defender touched it) before driving to the basket. Obviously glad there was no call, but even the replay keeps me thinking that it was very fortunate and might've gone the other way.

I watched it several times. It looked like the guy who tried to block it actually kicked it out of DJO's hand with his trailing foot (on accident).

Live it definitely looked like it could have been a turnover.  On further review it did appear to hit the UConn players foot.  Glad the ref's didn't blow the call (like the late JFB charge against G-Town).  Regardless, I am stoked about this Huge Road Win!  I was shocked that the playing for a turnover and not fouling right away strategy actually paid off.  Gotta give Buzz some props on that one.  He gets a lot of heat (mostly deserved) for his late-game/ close-game coaching strategy, but it paid off tonight.

Could be. I only saw it a couple of times on the broadcast replay and the announcers weren't saying anything about. I guess the ref must've been under the basket and should've had a decent look to see if the defender did touch/kick it.

Interesting, though, 'cuz if he kicked it, should it have been a whistle and MU ball out of bounds? Lucky for the 'advantage rule' like in soccer.

Anyway, no need to beat dead horse on the subject, so I'll not keep it going. Glad for the win.

The rule on a kick is often misinterpreted. It has to be an intentional kick vice hitting a player's foot. That play looked to me as unintentional. The rule states "If a defensive player intentionally kicks the basketball while it is in play, the offensive team retains possession of the ball and receives it out of bounds for a throw-in."
